FromSoftware's line of "Soulslike" RPGs have always given players a plethora of outfits and weapons with which to customize their characters; Elden Ring in particular has a truly diverse selection of armor sets, armaments, magic spells, and consumables, many of them derived from the appearance and attacks of enemies and friendly NPCs players can encounter throughout the Lands Between. With a creative mindset and a knowledge of outfit choices, it's more than possible for players of Elden Ring to create "cosplay" character builds inspired by the protagonists and antagonists of Star Wars, The Witcher, and other fantasy franchises.

With the advent of tabletop and computer RPGs, gamers started to take up the cosplay hobby within their games, emulating characters from Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Conan the Barbarian, and other famous fantasy works in RPGs like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim where players have the ability to customize character appearance, attire, and equipment.

Fantasy fiction cosplays have been popular for quite a while among fans of FromSoftware games such as Demon's Souls, Dark Souls 3, and Bloodborne, thanks to their diverse range of weapons and armor sets ranging from beautiful to beautifully grotesque in form. Character builds of Guts and other characters are popular cosplay choices from the fantasy manga Berkserk are popular in Dark Souls and other Soulslike games, in part because Berserk's art style inspired key parts of the Soulslike RPG visual aesthetic. The open-world size scope of Elden Ring, FromSoftware's newest Soulslike RPG, has greatly expanded the cosplay opportunities players have, letting them create custom PCs who look like, dress like, and even fight like the following classic fantasy figures.

Kratos From God Of War Can Be Cosplayed In Elden Ring

New God of War Ragnarök artwork reveals new details about the upcoming game.

Fans who type the words Elden Ring and Kratos into the YouTube search engine will swiftly discover a plethora of videos showcasing Elden Ring character builds designed to emulate Kratos, the antiheroic protagonist of the God of War mythic fantasy games. In the original God of War trilogy, Kratos was a homicidal demigod who dedicated his cursed life to taking bloody vengeance on the entire pantheon of Greek gods and goddesses, while the older Kratos from God of War (2018) and the upcoming God of War: Ragnarök has mellowed out considerably, fights the Aesir gods of the Norse pantheons for reasons of self-defense, and seeks to be a good father for his son Atreus. Both version of Kratos happen to be very easy to re-create within Elden Ring, an RPG that happens to also be about attacking and dethroning callous gods.

First, players can replicate the look of Kratos using Elden Ring's character creation suite, adding blood-red tattoos to an ashen-pale skin tone and giving their Tarnished PC either no hair at all (for young Kratos) or a shaggy black beard (for dad Kratos). The Hero starting class will give players access to a shirtless armor set similar to what Kratos wears in the God of War games and a round shield. A set of Fist weapons with the War Cry or the Barbaric Roar Ash of War equipped will let Kratos cosplayers emulate his "Spartan Rage" mode from God of War (2018), the Highland Axe weapon with the Hoarfrost Stomp Ash of War will closely resemble his signature Leviathan Axe, and weapons such as the Giant's Red Braid (from Elden Ring's Jotun-esque Fire Giant boss), Magma Whip Candlestick, or Magma Blade can stand in for his iconic Blades of Chaos.

Elden Ring Makes It Easy To Cosplay Geralt Of Rivia From The Witcher

Geralt unwielding his sword in The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt.

Geralt of Rivia, protagonist of The Witcher books by Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher video games by CD Projekt Red, and the Netflix TV adaptation, is a pale-haired mutant monster hunter frequently disdained by the humans he protects and even more frequently caught up with world-changing prophecies and games of politics. In the books, movies, and games, Geralt evens the odds against monsters, mages, and ordinary humans using gracefully wielded long-swords, potions consumed to boost his already enhanced physical abilities, and simple, swift battle magics called Signs. As it turns out, Elden Ring also has overpowered Ashes of War weapon skills, consumable potions, and swiftly-cast spells.

In the Elden Ring character creation engine, golden-colored eyes, long white hair, and stubble facial will capture the basic look of Geralt of Rivia. Two different greatsword-class weapons can stand in for Geralt's signature armaments - a steel longsword for slaying humans and a silver-plated one for killing monsters. Ashes of War such as Spinning Slash, Double Slash, or Sword Dance can replicate the twirling sword style of Geralt, while Ashes of War such as Storm Blade, Flame of the Red Manes, Flaming Strike, or Waves of Darkness can stand in for the powerful sign magic of The Witcher games. Alternately, Gerald of Rivia's Sign Magic can be represented using Elden Ring's more elemental Incantation spells (which require a certain level of investment into the Faith attribute). Finally, the self-enhancing Potions and Sword Oils that Geralt uses during certain battles can be re-created using the Weapon Grease consumables, the Flask of Wonderous Physick item, and the Perfume consumables unlocked in Elden Ring's mid-game areas.

Darth Maul From Star Wars Is A Great Elden Ring Cosplay Idea

In Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, the first movie in the Star Wars prequel trilogy, the devilish-looking Sith warrior named Darth Maul was a taciturn terror, a relentless combatant who slew Qui-Gon Jinn with his relentless double-bladed lightsaber technique before getting literally cut in half by a young Obi-Wawn Kenobi. Star War video game and TV show adaptations such as Star Wars: The Clone Wars revealed Darth Maul surviving his bisection, becoming the secretive leader of a crime syndicate and a more fleshed-out character tragically doomed by his thirst for revenge against those who hurt and abandoned him. In the world Elden Ring, there are no shortage of Sith-style conspiracies motivated by hate and revenge, and no shortage of double-bladed staff weapons that can be given a crimson glow.

In the Elden Ring character creation engine, a Darth-Maul look-like can be created by giving a character red skin and black tattoo patterns. Black armor sets such as the Confessor outfit will fit Darth Maul's Sith robes sense of fashion. To replicate Darth Maul's signature double-bladed lightsaber, players can select one of the basic Twinblade weapons found in Elden Ring, then enchant it with the Bloodflame Blade incantation to give it a sinister red glow. Alternately, players can invest extra points into the Arcane Attribute into order to equip Eleanora's Poleblade, a crimson Twinblade with an Ash of War that lets Tarnished PC leap and twirl in true Darth Maul fashion.

Elden Ring Allows For A Great Lady Maria Bloodborne Cosplay

Lady Maria flourishes her swords in Bloodborne.

Before Elden Ring, FromSoftware's gothic horror action RPG Bloodborne challenged players with nightmarishly difficult bosses – some of them werewolves mutated by the Scourge of Beasts, some of them alien entities from the abyssal cosmos, and others simply extremely skilled human Hunters. Among the best Hunter bosses found in Bloodborne, few were as fearsome as the evocatively named Lady Maria Of The Astral Clocktower, the penultimate boss of the Old Hunters DLC. Graceful and deadly, Lady Maria has "freed" numerous gamers from their "wild curiosity" through swift slashes with her trick saber, pinpoint shots with her pistol, and boss phases where she cuts and scorches players with projectiles formed from her own cursed blood.

Aside from creating a beautiful Tarnished PC with flaxen white hair, Elden Ring players looking to cosplay Lady Maria should invest in both the Dexterity and Arcane attributes in order to replicate her fighting style. In the Lands Between setting of Elden Ring, there are many Arcane-scaling weapons (Rivers of Blood being the most infamous) and Ashes of War (Blood Blade, Blood Tax, Bloody Slash, and Sepukku) that let players sacrifice some of their health to attack foes with solidified projectiles of blood.

The Bloodhound Step Ash of War lets players dash across long distances like Lady Maria does in her boss fight. Finally, the Pulley Crossbow, when equipped with explosive Perfumer Bolts, can fulfill the same function as Lady Maria's flintlock pistol, letting Elden Ring players put long-range pressure on enemies in both PvP and PvE.
