eFootball 2022 developer and publisher Konami has announced that it is delaying the release of the upcoming patch meant to fix many of the game’s ongoing issues. The company originally announced earlier this month that the game’s version 0.9.1 update would be released next week on October 28, 2021, and is meant to fix issues that the game’s players have been complaining about, along with some that the developer has seen.

When the replacement to Pro Evolution Soccer first launched at the end of September, it was quickly met with a significant amount of negative feedback from both players and critics. From terrible character models and technical issues to limited gameplay and content, players found a lot to be disappointed about with the new game. Its lengthy list of problems has even led to eFootball becoming the worst rated game on Steam, with many player reviews pointing towards the same aforementioned issues and more.

The official eFootball Twitter account announced the patch’s delay, which is now slated to roll out sometime in early November. Apart from apologizing for the delay and the inconvenience it will inevitably cause players, the post also mentions that the extra time will allow the developers to “ensure the experience is improved for all of our users.” As for the new release date and what exactly the new patch is meant to fix, those will apparently be announced at a later date.

While the developer has yet to detail which of the game’s issues it plans to resolve with the now-delayed patch, it did acknowledge at least some of those problems in the apology Konami released soon after eFootball launched. Those issues include problems with game balance, the ball’s pass speed, defense operation, cutscenes, player facial expressions and movement, as well as the behavior of the ball, although the game certainly has a lot more problems than what the studio mentioned.

The change from a solid release date to a general release window for eFootball 2022’s supposedly game fixing patch has to be concerning for the game’s fans and players. With the delay being announced less than a week before its originally intended release date, there may be a lot more work that Konami needs to do to come out with a patch that’s substantial enough to make a dent in the game’s long list of issues. Hopefully, the studio doesn't delay the update’s rollout any further and that it announces more details on it sooner rather than later.
