Is a remake of cult Cartoon Network series Ed, Edd N Eddy going to happen? Cartoon Network was best known for shows like Space Ghost Coast To Coast and The Powerpuff Girls when they gave the greenlit to Ed, Edd N Eddy in the late 1990s. This series was the brainchild of Danny Antonucci, who was previously known for more adult animation like the gory short Lupo The Butcher. He's said to have conceived of Ed, Edd N Eddy on a dare to create a children's show, and after pitching it to both Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network, he went with the latter who offered him creative control.

Ed, Edd N Eddy follows the titular trio, who live in the town of Peach Creek. The typical formula for the show involved the three Eds trying to swindle other kids in Peach Creek out of money so they can buy some jawbreakers, but things usually get out of hand and hijinks ensue. The series ran for six seasons and produced some spinoff video games for the GameBoy Advance, PlayStation 2 and other major consoles of the era.

It seems just about every cult favorite animated show has been revived in some form in recent years, but is there any hope for more Ed, Edd N Eddy?

The Series Ended With Ed, Edd N Eddy's Big Picture Show

After various delays, the Ed, Edd N Eddy's Big Picture Show movie arrived on Cartoon Network in 2009. This finale saw the three boys seeking out Eddy's brother - who was an unseen character on the show - for help when the other kids turn against them.

Eddy's brother (Terry Klassen, Dragon Ball Z) is revealed to be a vicious bully, and after's he defeated, Eddy apologizes to the town's other kids for his rotten behavior. This has the unexpected effect of the group being welcomed into their social circle and not being outcasts anymore.

An Ed, Edd N Eddy Reboot Will "Never Happen"

A Facebook fan group reported in 2018 that Cartoon Network was working on an Ed, Edd N Eddy reboot, but this was quickly debunked. Underlining this was voice actress Erin Fitzgerald (Death Stranding) who responded to a fan query on Twitter (via Tom Holland's Terror Time), who said she would be willing to return but Danny Antonucci had told her many times the show would never be resurrected.

Fitzgerald also revealed it was Antonucci's decision to end Ed, Edd N Eddy with a movie as he was "done" with the show and wanted to give it a proper ending.

An Ed, Edd N Eddy Reboot Is Unlikely

While it's not unheard that a creator could return to their work after previously ruling it out - see David Lynch and Twin Peaks - a reboot of Ed, Edd N Eddy seems very unlikely. The movie was a nice capper to the series, and by all accounts, Danny Antonucci has no interest in revisiting the series.
