Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin returns to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in new Echo set photos. Audiences were first introduced to D'Onofrio's portrayal of Wilson Fisk in Daredevil season 1, which was released on Netflix in 2016. He became a standout on the show over its three season run, resulting in a growing call from viewers to see Kingpin appear in a major MCU project. This finally happened in 2021 when D'Onofrio played a supporting role in Hawkeye on Disney+. His long-awaited return did not confirm whether or not the MCU's Kingpin is the same version from Daredevil, but it did introduce new aspects of his story.

Kingpin's MCU introduction was teased throughout Hawkeye as being the "uncle" to Maya Lopez a.k.a. Echo (Alaqua Cox). Due to their strong ties in the comics, the possibility of Kingpin and Echo's MCU stories being connected was long speculated about. This included theories that Vincent D'Onofrio would return as Wilson Fisk for Echo, the spinoff show starring Marvel's deaf Native American anti-hero. The series has since been rumored to include not only more of Kingpin but also the return of Daredevil (Charlie Cox).

Now, Atlanta Filming has posted new set photos from Echo showing Vincent D'Onofrio's MCU return as Kingpin. He is shown in one of Fisk's traditional white suits walking through the street. The context of the scene is a complete mystery, but these Echo photos do officially confirm that D'Onofrio is returning as Kingpin for the Phase 5 MCU Disney+ show slated to release next summer.

Kingpin's appearance in these Echo set photos already raises a big question about his role in the series and what is happening in these images. The last time viewers saw Wilson Fisk and Echo, she seemingly fired a gun at him. This was never meant to signal that Kingpin died in Hawkeye's finale. It appeared that Marvel was instead referencing the comic moment when Echo blinds Fisk by shooting him in the eye. Based on these photos, though, Kingpin's vision appears to be perfectly normal when he returns in Echo.

There are some potential explanations for Kingpin's two-eyed appearance in Echo. Since Hawkeye panned up to the sky instead of showing what Maya did with her gun, it is possible that she shot towards the sky instead of shooting Fisk. It is also possible that Kingpin's role in this scene is part of a flashback, so he would still need to have both of his eyes. Marvel could also be taking some cautionary measures knowing photos may leak and plan to show the side effects of Echo shooting Kingpin using CGI. Regardless of what he might look like or how he might factor into the show's story, there is now no doubt that Kingpin is in Echo.
