Daredevil's upcoming appearance in Marvel Studios' Echo series posed a problem that might have already been fixed. Alaqua Cox debuted as Maya Lopez, a.k.a. Echo during Hawkeye, which introduced her to the MCU before her solo spinoff series that was officially announced at 2021's Disney+ Day event. By April 2022, it was rumored that both Vincent D'Onofrio and Charlie Cox would be reprising their roles as Kingpin and Daredevil, respectively, with confirmation of their casting coming that July. Seeing D'Onofrio and Charlie Cox back together on screen was an exciting concept for avid Marvel fans, as the pair had previously gone toe-to-toe in Netflix's Daredevil, but this led to an issue with the debut of one of Marvel's newest heroes.

Announcing the involvement of Charlie Cox as Daredevil in Echo meant that a great deal of attention was taken away from the title character, since fans had been begging for Cox to return as Matt Murdock after the cancelation of the Netflix series'. This could have been a huge problem for the upcoming series, but one other Marvel Studios project has proven that Daredevil's involvement in Echo won't be too much of an issue. She-Hulk: Attorney at Law brought Daredevil into the MCU, suited and booted, but didn't steal any focus away from Tatiana Maslany's Jen Walters, a.k.a. She-Hulk. If this formula is properly transferred to Echo, there'll be nothing to worry about.

Daredevil Shouldn't Have A Major Role In Echo

Set to release in mid-2023, Echo will shine the spotlight on a lesser-known Marvel character who only showed a glimpse of her strength during her brief time in Hawkeye. While Echo and Daredevil have a rich history together in Marvel Comics, the latter shouldn't be given a large part in the upcoming series. MCU viewers will already be aware of Daredevil's career and history, whether the MCU version is the same as the Netflix version or not, but Maya Lopez is a far more obscure character that viewers need to become familiar with without any distractions. Echo's familial relationship with Kingpin suggests that D'Onofrio will have a major role in Echo, so Daredevil should stay out of the way and save their eventual battle for the epic 18-episode Daredevil: Born Again.

Daredevil's MCU She-Hulk Debut Is Good For Echo

She-Hulk Daredevil Debut

The fact that Daredevil has already been properly introduced to the MCU, first as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home and then in his new red and yellow suit in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, means that his appearance in Echo won't be so much of a distraction. While there are still many questions about whether he's the same Daredevil as the Netflix version, the character isn't new in the MCU anymore, so there's not the same level of excitement and intensity surrounding him. She-Hulk: Attorney at Law took the brunt of most of the Daredevil fever, delivering a brighter and more light-hearted version of the character who played perfectly opposite Walters.

This means that when the character does show up during Echo, it won't be a shock for audiences and won't break the focus from Alaqua Cox's strong performance. In fact, with rumors suggesting that Daredevil could be searching for a missing Jessica Jones in Echo, it could be that he has a relatively small part in the series akin to his role in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Daredevil is set to get his own monumental series when Daredevil: Born Again releases in 2024, which his appearances in previous MCU projects and the upcoming Echo series have been laying the groundwork for.
