Earning Titles in Destiny 2 requires a lot of determination and patience, and each one can be something of a grind whether they are timed or simply consist of many difficult activities and steps. Titles appear in purple under players in Destiny 2 and indicate that player completed a set of in-game Triumphs. Essentially, they are a mark of prestige when playing with others. Mastering the Deep Stone Crypt Raid in the Beyond Light expansion will allow players to unlock the Descendant Title. This is one of the more difficult Titles to earn and will likely take players some time.

To earn the Title, players will need to collect every weapon, armor piece, and item in the Raid, complete the Raid at least 7 times using different weapons, and complete all the available challenges and Triumphs. Though the Deep Stone Crypt is not one of the most difficult Raids to complete, the volume of tasks required to earn the Title, as well as the complexity of some of the individual activities, can make Descendant one of the harder-fought Titles to unlock. Here's everything players need to do to unlock the Descendant Title in Destiny 2: Beyond Light.

How To Earn The Descendant Title in Destiny 2

A fireteam takes on a Deep Stone Crypt Raid in Destiny 2: Beyond Light

To earn the Descendant Title, players will need to make sure to get all the items, weapons, and armor available in the Raid. These are:

  • Retrocausality: Complete the "Not a Scratch" Triumph
  • No Love Lost: Find all 5 Exo Stranger Logs
  • Cryptic Insignia: Complete the Raid
  • Crypt Reawakened: Complete the Raid
  • Eyes of Tomorrow: Drop from defeating Tanik's, the Abomination (10% drop chance on first completion per character per week)

Players will also need to collect all the heads, arms, chest armor, boots, class items, and specialty weapons from all encounters.  These items include:

  • Trustee: Crypt Security Encounter
  • Heritage: Atraks-1, Fallen Exo Encounter
  • Succession: Atraks-1, Fallen Exo Encounter
  • Posterity: Rapture Encounter
  • Commemoration: Taniks, The Abomination Encounter
  • Bequest: Taniks, The Abomination Encounter

If a player is struggling to get an item to drop, they can always purchase one from a vendor at the end of the Taniks encounter instead.

Next, players will need to earn all seven Raid Completion Triumphs. Each of these Triumphs requires players to complete the Raid under certain conditions, usually with a team made entirely of a certain kind of class or Subclass. These include:

  • Deep Stone Crypt: Complete the Deep Stone Crypt Raid
  • Clan Night: Deep Stone Crypt: Complete the Deep Stone Crypt Raid with a team made entirely of clanmates.
  • Control Group: Complete all Raid Encounters with a team of Guardians all from the same class.
  • Electric Sheep: Complete all Raid Encounters with a team of Guardians who all have Arc Subclasses.
  • Meltdown: Complete all Raid Encounters with a team of Guardians who all have Solar Subclasses.
  • Freezing Point: Complete all Raid Encounters with a team of Guardians who all have Stasis Subclasses.
  • Devoid of the Rest: Complete all Raid Encounters with a team of Guardians who all have Void Subclasses.

For the Triumphs that require a certain Subclass to count, players will need to make sure they have that Subclass equipped prior to the start of a Raid Encounter. For these Subclass-specific triumphs, teams can still have a mix of Hunters, Warlocks, and Titans, as this will not detract from the Triumph.

Finally, players will need to complete all the rotating weekly challenges and consistently available Triumphs to receive the Descendant Title. Here are all the challenges to complete:

  • Cryptkeeper: Loot the two hidden chests in the Deep Stone Crypt Raid (one in the blizzard section, and one in the space-jumping puzzle after the Atraks-1 Encounter.
  • Not a Scratch: Bring all six Pikes from the starting heat bubble to the final heat bubble
  • Rock Bottom: In addition to receiving No Love Lost, finding all 5 Exo Stranger Logs rewards the Rock Bottom Triumph.
  • Red Rover: Weekly Challenge: Have all Guardians in a team fire at least two panels with the Operator augment during the Crypt Security encounter.
  • Resource Contention: Shut down Crypt Security while using only two of the three augmentation terminals.

  • Copies of Copies: Weekly Challenge. Defeat Atraks-1 without depositing Replication Orbs into airlocks.
  • 5 Seconds to Paradise: Defeat Atraks-1 while destroying all 6 Servitors within 5 seconds of one another.
  • Of All Trades: Weekly Challenge. Complete the Descent Encounter with each member of the team using the Scanner, Operator, and Suppressor augments at least once.
  • Short Circuit: Defeat Taniks with only one teammate depositing nuclear cores.
  • The Core 4: Weekly Challenge. Defeat Taniks by spawning four nuclear cores at once.
  • Ready, Set, Go!: Defeat Taniks while activating pairs of conduit nodes (depositing nuclear cores) within five seconds of each other.

If a team completes one of the weekly challenges on a week it is not active, their success will not count toward the Triumph or the Title. They will have to repeat the challenge to get it to register.

Once players complete all the Triumphs and collect all items, they will be able to unlock and wear the Descendant Title.
