What if earbuds matched the wearer's skin tone? That's what JLab is doing with its new earbuds. Most earbuds come in one or two colors at best, and that's usually black or white. For those who don't want monochrome colors, they have to look to the few manufacturers such as Samsung with its line of Galaxy Buds that are available in more colorful options.

The earbuds market is pretty much saturated already but it is always interesting when a brand comes up with a feature that makes them stand out. For some, it is going with an odd shape like a bean while for others it may be a transparent design. Yet, others simply go with features that are hard to beat by the competition.

JLab's plan to stand out in the earbuds market is by launching earbuds that match skin tones. Info on its website says that it partnered with color experts at ORLY Color Labs, a company known for its nail polishes, to arrive at seven colors that complement skin tones. All of the colors are neutral and unlike earbuds that come in bright or even monochrome colors, they should not draw much attention. The earbuds are also the brand's smallest yet, and the lighter carrying case should easily fit into the pocket. The JLab Go Air Tones earbuds do more than just complement the wearer's skin as they are packed with several features.

More Than Just Matching Colors

JLab GO Air Tones are designed to complement skin tones

Each earbud weighs 3.7 grams, has a 6mm driver, and a silicone tip that comes in three sizes. Only the earbuds have an ingress protection rating (IPX4) against splashes and sweat. The JLab Go Air Tones have touch controls for controlling playback, calling up the voice assistant on the connected smartphone, and taking calls. Unlike the OnePlus Buds Pro, the touch controls can also be used to adjust the volume. The earbuds are compatible with both Android and iOS devices and connect via Bluetooth 5.1. There is no companion app which is good news for those who don't want to download an additional app just for their earbuds.

Like other JLab earphones, these too feature its custom EQ3 Sound, and users can switch between modes by tapping either earbud thrice. Users will get 8+ hours of listening time (32+ hours with the case). While the JLab Go Air Tones lacks features such as wireless charging and fast charging, owners won't need a charging cable as one is integrated into the charging case. JLab rounds it off with a price tag of just $20. That's a fraction of the cost of Apple's cheapest earbuds, the $129 Airpods 2nd generation. The earbuds have a two-year warranty and are available for purchase on JLab's website with free shipping. There is the option to try them on virtually before purchasing.
