Dynasty is all about exaggerated storylines and things happening that seem beyond the realm of possibility. Of course, for a family like the Carringtons, nothing is out of reach given their endless resources and billions of dollars. Still, some situations and storylines from the show are pulled right from the corniest of soap opera plotlines.

From multiple near-death experiences to literal changing faces, evil twins, and more, every sordid tale seems more ridiculous than the last. This is precisely what makes Dynasty so enticing, of course. It's the epitome of escapism. Still, fans can't help but think that a few things that have happened are above and beyond what could be considered even remotely believable.

Fallon Almost Unknowingly Marrying Her Cousin

Jeff and Fallon about to get married on Dynasty.

Fallon had a relationship with Jeff that quickly turned more romantic than opportunistic. Things got very awkward, however, when it was revealed that Jeff's grandmother had an affair with Fallon's grandfather and thus Jeff's mother Dominique was actually Blake's half-sister.

This would effectively make Fallon and Jeff cousins. Both felt very strange after learning this revelation. They had called off the wedding regardless, but it was an unbelievable storyline that seems like information too big to have been kept secret from everyone for so long.

Alexis Forgiving Adam

Alexis and Adam standing together in the hospital on Dynasty.

Adam – one of the best characters introduced after season 1 of Dynasty - not only acted horribly towards his biological mother after meeting her, but he shoved her face into a blazing fire, causing irreparable and painful burns and facial damage. A mother is likely to forgive her child for just about anything, and considering Adam lived a terrible life after being taken from his parents, her guilt might have caused her to do unthinkable things.

But Alexis doesn't come across as someone who ever feels guilty or takes accountability. She also knows the abduction was not her fault. Beyond that, it's also unbelievable that with the Carrington resources, they were not able to figure out who took Adam and where he went and was all these years.

Sam Becoming Instantly Wealthy

It makes sense that Sam would be given alimony following his divorce from the very wealthy Steven. But it seems unlikely that the Carringtons would simply let this go and not fight tooth and nail to keep him from taking as much as he did.

It could be that, because of how close Sam had grown to the family, particularly Fallon, the millions of dollars was just a drop in the bucket for them and they wanted him to be happy because they know it's what Steven would have wanted. But it is one of the most unbelievable rags to riches story, especially since neither Sam nor anyone else has mentioned Steven since.

Multiple Near-Death Experiences

Kirby on the floor stabbed, Adam standing over her in shock in a scene from Dynasty.

From Fallon getting shot and stabbed on two different occasions to Liam being knocked unconscious and losing his memory, not to mention Kirby overdosing and getting stabbed, it seemed very unlikely that they would have survived all these things, much less come out effectively unscathed.

Yet Liam seems to have no permanent damage from the massive knock to his head while Fallon seemingly has no scars as a result of the multiple injuries she sustained. Even with the best doctors at their beck and call, it seems a stretch that they would simply get over these near-death experiences without so much as a scratch.

Steven Completely Disappearing

Steven crying on Dynasty

One of the biggest questions on Dynasty surrounds Steven's disappearance. He had realized Adam might be the brother they were searching for and became paranoid about the new person getting close to the family. Plus, Steven had just discovered that he was not actually Blake's biological son.

Steven's story ends with him being institutionalized, the result of Adam's evil doing. But with he and Fallon being so incredibly close and Sam caring so much for him, not to mention Steven being one of the most likable characters on Dynasty, it makes no sense that neither of them would check in on him or do what they could to get him out or at least transferred somewhere closer to the family. Even if Blake found out Steven wasn't his son, he raised him as such, yet he didn't seem to care either. Nor did his mother Alexis or his biological father Anders and half-sister Kirby. Why did everyone completely forget Steven existed?

The Real Cristal Marrying Blake

The second Cristal from Dynasty, smiling and looking at Blake.

The story of the switching Cristals was necessary when the actor who originally played the character left the show. This was explained away in death followed by a mysterious woman showing up claiming to be the real Cristal who allowed the first Cristal, real name Celia, to use her identity. Blake ended up falling madly in love with her, shortly after Celia died.

Then, when the second actor left as well, a third Cristal came into the picture, meant to simply offer a seamless transition as the same woman. Fans were supposed to pretend that she was the same person even though she looked and acted completely differently.

Cristal's Evil Twin

Rita, Cristal's evil doppelgänger, looking at her smiling in a scene from Dynasty.

The story of Beto running into a Southern woman in a random bar who just so happens to look exactly like Cristal is downright impossible. It was already one of the biggest plot twists on Dynasty when the original Cristal was revealed not to be Cristal at all. This storyline, however, took things to an entirely new level.

It's not just that the two women, both played by the same actor, look similar to one another. They are identical but for personality and accent – Rita doesn't just have an uncanny doppelganger, she has to be a twin. The story is stretched even further into unbelievable territory when Rita poses as Cristal and Blake is completely fooled, unable to tell the difference between this woman pretending to be Cristal and his actual wife.

The Alexis Plastic Surgery

Alexis with Fallon's face in a scene from Dynasty.

Without a doubt, the most unbelievable storyline involves another that was designed to cover up a departing cast member. When Nicolette Sheridan left the show, they needed to find a way to keep the character alive. Alexis Carrington is a huge part of the story as well as one of the biggest villains on Dynasty.

Instead of instantly finding a new actor to play Alexis and having fans shrug off the fact that she looked completely different, they used the burn storyline to cover things up. Because of the severe burns, the story goes that Alexis has major plastic surgery and comes out looking completely different. Before she gets a completely flawless new face, however, which itself is unbelievable, Adam, as a means of revenge, has the doctors redo her face to look exactly like Fallon's. It was one of the moments on the show when it was clear Dynasty wasn't afraid to take the story in ridiculous directions for the sake of entertainment.
