From now until April 26, Dying Light players on PC can jump into a free crossover event that boasts a number of Rust-themed skins and weapons. Dying Light originally launched on consoles and PC back in early 2015, but developer Techland continues to support the zombie title with free content and paid DLC.

Notably, the paid Hellraid expansion for Dying Light launched last summer, allowing Techland to briefly re-explore its shelved Hellraid project. And just in time for Halloween last year, Techland rolled out a Dying Light x Left 4 Dead 2 event that brought the latter's William "Bill" Overbeck into the mix with a Viral Rush mode. Previously, the studio made it clear that support for Dying Light would not cease anytime soon. Fans will be thrilled to learn that such a promise is still being kept, even though the crew remains hard at work on the brand's eagerly-anticipated sequel.

Starting today, PC players can experience a Dying Light x Rust crossover event that ends next week on April 26 at 10:00am PDT. In addition, Techland is giving away a free Rust bundle that comes packed with Rust-themed Player and Buggy Skins, as well as an Assault Rifle, Custom SMG, and Salvaged Cleaver inspired by the hit survival title from developer Facepunch Studios. Players who finish Research Bounties by collecting resources during the limited-time event will unlock Gold Blueprint upgrades for the Rust weapon set. Collaboratively, the Dying Light community can access Gold Fire, Gold Freezing and Gold Poison C4 Dockets by finding Air Drops, eliminating bandits, and raiding two Rais’ Outposts. Slums and Old Town areas also feature local and global objectives revolving an increased presence of bandits and zombies.

This crossover seems as though it's as good of a match as any other Techland has released for Dying Light. The timing seems just right, too, given recent news that Rust will finally hit PS4 and Xbox One next month on May 21. Of course, Dying Light hasn't been far from the center of attention, either.

Approximately one month ago, Techland confirmed the long-awaited Dying Light sequel will arrive sometime this year. Still, the studio hopes fans will remain patient as the wait for Dying Light 2 persists. The game's original announcement made waves during E3 2018, yet a range of development issues have reportedly beset the title's progress.
