Dying Light developer Techland has revealed that it's releasing an Anniversary Edition for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in time for the holiday season. The anniversary edition will be a steal for fans of zombies and FPS action, as the bundle will include every expansion, game mode, and DLC the game has to offer.

Since launching five years ago, Dying Light has impressed fans with its near-limitless combat options and unique open-world freerunning. Even as the second installment in the series is still underway, Dying Light has remained relevant thanks to new content that has been consistently added to the open-world best-seller. Examples include the battle royale game Bad Blood that Techland designated as a free item for owners of Dying Light and other content that extends the story of Kyle Crane as he fights his way through wave after wave of zombie hordes.

According to Gematsu, The Following expansion and Hell Raid game mode are the highlights of the upcoming Dying Light: Anniversary Edition. There are several other updates, add-ons, and in-game events included in the definitive bundle, as well. The new edition will run players $40 when it arrives on December 8 with all of the content the game has to offer.

Dying Light Hellraid Skeleton DLC

Dying Light has reinvigorated a stagnant genre by reimagining zombie video games and how they should be played. This is reflected by the fact that the survival game has earned more than 50 Game of the Year awards and has gone on to redefine the zombie genre through its open-world style of exploration and first-person combat. The sales speak for themselves: to date, it has sold more than 5 million units. It is viewed by many as a major improvement on Techland's previous Dead Island series, and its quality has won Techland a lot of good will with players - so much so that news of the sequel's delay was met with patience and understanding rather than anger.

While Dying Light fans are obviously keen to learn about the sequel and when it will be released, the anniversary edition's arrival should help ease those concerns for the time being. The good news is that there is still plenty of content that should keep the game fresh until Dying Light 2 finally hits the shelves next year.
