Zombie FPS Dying Light 2 is coming this December, according to leaked ads appearing on various websites including Twitch. Although Dying Light 2 is expected to get a big livestream later today, it seems one of its biggest pieces of news managed to trickle out a little early. Developer Techland has been saying it would release in 2021, but now fans have an idea of exactly when in 2021 it's launch will be.

It's been over six years since the first game, and  more details on the second game since its big gameplay reveal a couple years ago have been sparse. Earlier in the week, it was confirmed that Dying Light 2 would get a new livestream that would reveal plenty of new info. Just mere hours before its debut, some advertising went live a bit early.

Dying Light 2 will release on December 7, 2021 according to a leaked ad (via Wccftech) for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC. Of course, this also gives the developers a chance to delay it to 2022 if necessary, but the team is starting to seem pretty confident in the title after a troubled development. That said, Techland probably wants to avoid any comparisons to Cyberpunk 2077 and CD Projekt Red, especially as it's releasing in the exact same window as CDPR's controversial RPG did.

Dying Light 2 Leaked Release Date

As of right now, there are no concrete details regarding what else will be in the livestream, but presumably there will be plenty of gameplay and a new trailer. It's no real surprise the game took this long, especially after Techland confirmed Dying Light 2 is four times bigger than the original, which was already a substantially large game on its own. The first entry was a massive hit, so the team has likely been wanting to take its time and perfect the sequel as much as possible, though there are reports of a rather troubling and toxic workplace that has held the game back in some instances.

Dying Light 2 is looking to be one of the more interesting 2021 titles, especially following its incredible 2019 gameplay demo. Whether or not the game has changed much since then in terms of scope or scale remains to be seen, but today's live stream should offer some indication. Dying Light 2 finally releasing in 2021 should be a great way to cap off the first full year with current-generation consoles, as the game will boast ray-tracing, 4K, and other fancy features that will show off the true power of the machines.
