A hilarious Dying Light 2 Easter egg references Dwight K. Schrute, the eccentric Assistant to the Regional Manager from The Office. The post-apocalyptic survival horror game takes place in the city of Villedor, a large urban metropolis inhabited by both bloodthirsty zombies and ruthless survivors. Throughout this massive open world, Dying Light 2's Easter eggs pay tribute to numerous franchises across the pop culture sphere.

Like its predecessor, Dying Light 2 pits players against undead hordes in a dynamic and immersive urban environment. While zombies slowly shamble around during the day, a realistic day-night cycle turns them into fast and powerful enemies once the sun sets. To enable quick traversal across Villedor and away from hopeless situations, Dying Light 2 protagonist Aiden Caldwall can run across rooftops using advanced parkour moves. The expansive open world is filled with small details and Easter eggs, such as a notable reference to Super Mario and the first game's protagonist Kyle Crane. A Resident Evil Easter egg in Dying Light 2 also pays tribute to the classic survival horror franchise and its two heroes Leon and Chris.

As reported by GameSpot, an amazing Dying Light 2 Easter egg pays homage to The Office and its ambitious star Dwight Schrute. The reference to the irreverent sitcom can be found in the Garrison district, which is located in the Central Loop region. Players who approach a three-story shelter from the street will find a note left by a survivor named Dwight Kurt S. III, a former office manager looking for a stapler. The name on the note is an obvious nod to The Office, with the stapler request serving as a reference to the show's pilot episode where Jim puts Dwight's stapler in Jell-O.

Dying Light 2 note references The Office star Dwight Schrute

Both the American and British versions of The Office have been highly praised for their mockumentary style and comedic tone. This has led to tributes and references in various forms of media, including video games such as Dying Light 2. In an unexpectedly effective crossover, one gamer constructed a Call of Duty Zombies map of The Office's Dunder Mifflin which turns the titular office into a survival arena. The custom map turns Pam's reception desk, Michael Scott's office and The Annex into supernatural battlegrounds, similar to Dwight's stapler request within the post-apocalyptic world of Dying Light 2.

Dying Light 2's city of Villedor is quite vast, with players continuing to find new references and details throughout the fallen city. Through a blatant reference to Dwight Schrute, the zombie survival simulator pays homage to one of the world's most successful and beloved sitcoms. As a hardcore survivalist who maintains an arsenal of weapons around Dunder Mifflin, it seems natural that The Office's Dwight Schrute would fit into the zombie-infested world of Dying Light 2.
