When the sunsets on the city of Villedor in Dying Light 2,  things get a whole lot more lethal. While the majority of infected stay indoors or underground during the day, there are far greater numbers roaming the streets of the city at night. The infected are far more volatile, and most will chase the player until they are safe or dead. Fans of the first game in the series will welcome Dying Light 2's familiar approach to nighttime, as well as the many new additions that make it even more worth it to explore the city at night.

Dying Light 2's nighttime is much easier to survive than the first game if players just intend on running on rooftops and gathering extra parkour XP. However, the sequel offers plenty of more to do in the night than the first, including nighttime exclusive quests, Quarantine Zones, Dark Zones, and  GRE Anaomly boss fights. These activities offer some of the best loot and rewards in the game all while players are earning extra XP for surviving the night. Players will have to bring the right equipment and be wary of Dying Light 2's new monsters, like the Howler, who will call a horde of zombies to the player if they spot them.

As soon as the sun goes down, players will have to keep track of their immunity timers, a new mechanic in Dying Light 2's nighttime and dark zones. Since every player is infected, staying in the light is the only way to keep themselves from turning. If a player's immunity timer hits zero, they will turn and die. In order to survive in the dark, players will have to utilize Dying Light 2's new gear like consumable UV Shrooms or immunity boosters that will extend the players' immunity time in the dark.

Nighttime Exclusive Activities & Rewards in Dying Light 2

Nighttime Activity Rewards in Dying Light 2

Quarantine & Dark Zones

Quarantine and Dark Zones are spread throughout Dying Light 2's map and contain some of the best loot the game has to offer. These zones can be entered during the day but are near impossible to survive due to the amount of infected in the areas. Players will have to wait until nighttime for these areas to clear out, but once they do, they'll be able to reap its benefits. Dark Zones are smaller and easier to complete and usually contain rare crafting materials and weapons. Quartine Zones are much bigger and contain Inhibitors for upgrades, rare gear, and rare weapons.

GRE Anomalies

GRE Anomalies are another nighttime exclusive activity where players will; have e to face off against special infected bosses. These areas have plenty of rare loot scattered around the boss fight arenas. These fights can get difficult solo, so it's always a good idea to bring some friends in by using Dying Light 2's seamless co-op mode. Players won't have to worry about other infected during these boss fights, as the anomalies are usually enclosed in an arena to fight them in.

Nighttime in Dying Light 2 can get chaotic, but traversing the night can be the best way to get the most powerful equipment and materials in the game. If players find themselves being chased down by a horde of zombies, they can always run to the nearest UV light or safe house to survive the night. Be careful not to die during the night though, as it'll cause the player to lose all the bonus XP they've gained during that time.
