Polish developer Techland released a brand new cinematic trailer for the highly anticipated Dying Light 2 during the Game Awards. The 2021 Game Awards saw the reveal of many brand new trailers, with Dying Light 2 being one of the most notable, featuring a dramatic and emotional cover of The Pixies' "Where Is My Mind?", and some key teases of the sequel's story. The first-person zombie-slaying follow-up is set to release February 4, 2021.

The first Dying Light received a solid reception when it launched in 2015, with many applauding the game for its fluid parkour and combat mechanics. The game was also widely known for its intense and horrific depiction of the zombie apocalypse genre. Many fans have been excited for Dying Light 2's release, especially following its delay in 2020.

The release of the first Dying Light also saw the release of a cinematic trailer that featured the song "Run Boy Run" by Woodkid. This trailer featured a character who played a significant role in the story, a man named Brecken. In the main story of the first game, the cinematic trailer was a sort of backstory about Brecken's botched supply run, which directly impacts what the player has to do in the actual game. The recent cinematic trailer for Dying Light 2 may also do the same, and provide the building blocks of the story players will uncover once it releases.

The Child In Dying Light 2's Cinematic Trailer Could Be Mia Caldwell

Dying Light 2 Game Awards Trailer

Dying Light 2 takes place 15 years after the original game, and besides trying to find a cure for the Harran virus that ails him, the main protagonistAiden Caldwell, is also looking for his sister, Mia. There is little that is known about Mia, apart from the fact that the two were separated when they were children. The trailer features two stories - one of a father trying to find UV light to survive the night with his daughter, and the other of two women running from zombies into the safety of a room illuminated in UV light, until the father steals it for himself. As the Dying Light 2 trailer continues, all three characters are killed by the zombies and the father falls onto the ground, broken UV light in hand, seeing his daughter scream for his life.

Considering how Aiden and Mia were separated when they were kids, the little girl could possibly be his sister. She could have somehow survived the night after the events shown in the trailer, staying in the merciless city. Aiden is following clues to her whereabouts in the sequel, so there's a strong chance that she's alive. This trailer could prove to be her backstory and will most likely be a key theme in the branching storyline of Dying Light 2.

Dying Light 2 is setting up to be one of the most anticipated games of 2022, with many dying to set foot in the zombie-ridden world once again. With loads of new mechanics, abilities, and stories to discover, it will be exciting to see what Techland has set in store for its players. Dying Light 2 is set to be released on February 4, 2022.
