Perhaps the biggest choice players will have to make in Dying Light 2 is which faction to side with while playing the story and exploring the open world. The two factions in Dying Light 2, the Peacekeepers and the Survivors, each provide certain advantages that fit certain playstyles in the game. The Survivors are met first in the campaign at the Bazaar in Old Villedor, and the Peacekeepers are introduced slightly later on.

Both factions in Dying Light 2 are both fighting control of the city. Whichever faction controls the Water Towers and Power Stations in certain regions of the game's map are the ones who have influence in that area. Water Towers or Power Stations can be easily spotted by using binoculars, and once they are cleared, players will be able to assign either the Peacekeepers or Survivors to them. Assigning a faction to a certain tower or station does not have any effect on the actual main story or Dying Light 2's multiple endings, but it does have an effect on gameplay.

What Assigning Factions in Dying Light 2 Does

Once players choose which faction in Dying Light 2 to assign a tower or station to they'll unlock the faction perks for that region. The Survivor faction offers improvements to the player's parkour in the region by adding things like trampolines and zip lines to help the player traverse the region faster. The Peacekeepers offer combat improvements for the region, including car traps, electrical fences, and even cannons that shoot giant razorblades near military convoys to help clear them out.

Players who haven't yet unlocked ranged weapons in Dying Light 2 like the crossbow should consider siding with the Peacekeepers early on, as this extra firepower can really come in handy!

Even if players have sided with the Survivors in the main campaign, assigning the PK Power Stations and Water Towers will not have any effect on those relationships, so consider mixing it up a bit.

Which Faction to Side With in Dying Light 2?

The in-game Faction Map in Dying Light 2

Which faction in Dying Light 2 players should side with really comes down to how they want to play the game. If players enjoy moving quickly around Dying Light 2's map and want to upgrade their parkour with things like trampolines, better vents for paragliding, and more ziplines for easier travel of the map, then the Survivor faction is the way to go. However, most of the upgrades given by Survivors will really only save players a few milliseconds while parkouring and most upgrades are circumvented by upgrading the player's paraglider.

If players prefer offense to traversal upgrades, the best faction to side with in Dying Light 2 is the Peacekeepers because they add useful things to the map like canons, car traps, electrical fencer traps, and lanterns that can be used as Molotovs. The Peacekeepers even give the player one of the best weapons in Dying Light 2, the PK Crossbow.
