Those looking forward to the release of Dying Light 2: Stay Human will have to wait a little longer, as the upcoming zombie action game has been delayed yet again. The game was scheduled to release in December, but has been pushed back until next year. This isn’t the first time Dying Light 2 has been delayed, and it’s hoped the pushback will ensure the game will release in the best state possible.

Dying Light 2 has had a troubled development, with developer Techland accused by employees of poor management, crunch, and toxicity, and many believed the game would be canceled before its release. The sequel to 2015’s parkour horror title was first announced during E3 2018, with players expecting to see the launch in spring 2020. In January that year, the studio announced that spring 2020 was no longer a feasible option for release, and the game was delayed indefinitely. Earlier this year, Techland announced a new release date for Dying Light 2, which was set to launch on December 7 2021.

Fans will have to wait a few months more for Dying Light 2: Stay Human, as the developer has confirmed the game will no longer be launching in 2021. Making the announcement across social media, the official Dying Light account revealed the title will now be available February 4, 2022, adding a few more weeks onto its time in development. Apologizing for the delay, Techland CEO Pawel Marchewka explained: "We want the game to meet your highest expectations on release and we don't want to compromise on this." Press and content creators will be able to preview the game on PC and console starting next month, which should give fans an idea of not just how the game looks, but also how it plays.

While the Dying Light 2 delay may be a blow to many, the announcement does come with some brighter news. According to the tweet, the game is now complete, with the development team's focus now on playtesting. The extra development time will be used for game polishes and improvements to ensure Dying Light 2: Stay Human is at the standard the team wants to see at launch. With the game now complete, it seems another delay is unlikely, though this will depend on how much polish the title will require before it hits store shelves.

Despite its delays, Dying Light 2 has been shaping up nicely. The game has been shown off in a series of videos by Techland named "Dying 2 Know," which have given fans a taste of the game's vast world, its countless threats, and its branching storyline. Players can expect to see more parkour moves than in the first game, as well as an open-world setting with nearly 200 Dying Light weapons waiting to be discovered. Dying Light 2 fans will see more news on the game in the coming weeks, despite its delay.
