Dying Light 2 was released on February 4 and has been plagued by numerous bugs, including an annoying black screen issue at the game's end. Players have positively received the open-world post-apocalyptic action RPG, but the technical problems have impacted the game's reviews. Dying Light 2 had various bugs on release, which prompted developer Techland to put out a day-one patch.

Many of the more game-breaking glitches have been patched, such as Dying Light 2's "death-loop" bug, which caused players to get trapped in an endless loop when their character died on specific missions. The most common bug is a black screen that stops players from seeing what is happening, which often occurs at critical moments during the game. This black screen glitch is frustrating players when it triggers at the game-ending because while it isn't game-breaking, it is annoying.

Bug and glitches are unfortunately part and parcel of modern gaming, but the black screen issue in Dying Light 2 is ruining the experience for many players. Techland has reassured players that it is working on this and other bugs and updating players via the official Dying Light Twitter account. But until another patch is released, here are some tips players can try to help with this issue.

Tips To Fix Dying Light 2's Black Screen Bug

Dying Light 2 Interview

One of the first things a player should do to fix Dying Light 2's black screen bug is to simply try waiting. It might sound patronizing but sometimes being patient works. Some Dying Light 2 players have discovered that the game will eventually resolve the issue itself in time, although this can sometimes take a few minutes.

Another tried and true way to fix this black screen bug is to quit the game and restart. This is a method that applies to many games and bugs. Leaving and reentering the game is an obvious tip, but quitting or closing the application for Dying Light 2 altogether will clear the game cache, often solving any bugs.

A good tip for any game glitch is to check the integrity of the game files. When using Epic Game Store, players should click the three dots on the right side of the Dying Light 2 icon. From there, select verify from the drop-down menu and allow the process to complete. For those using Steam to play Dying Light 2, players should right-click on the game in the library section. Select Properties and then click local files. From there, click verify integrity of game files and allow Steam to do the rest.

Fixing this issue for players on Xbox or PlayStation consoles is a little more extreme. Players can take similar steps to those above, and it may even be worth performing a full shutdown of a console (unplugging it from the mains for several minutes) in order for it to reset. However, another option is to delete and reinstall Dying Light 2. This is, unfortunately, the only way to repair any error that could have occurred when initially installing the game.

The best tip for those wanting to fix this issue is to check for game updates. Techland is putting out hotfixes and patches for Dying Light 2 regularly. Players should check Dying Light's official Twitter as well the game itself manually for updates.

It is not uncommon for games to be released with bugs and performance problems. That said, Techland does appear to be listening to the fanbase and is working towards finding permanent fixes for the bugs and glitches reported. Until then, players of Dying Light 2 will have to find workarounds for any issues they encounter.
