When Dancing With The Stars season 30 contestant Brian Austin Green took to the stage for the first time, he received support from his ex Vanessa Marcil. Brian and Vanessa have had a rocky relationship over the years, but they share a 19-year-old son, Kassius, who bonds them. Vanessa joined the cast of Beverly Hills, 90210 in 1998 as Gina Kincaid. Throughout seasons 9 and 10, Gina became close friends with and eventually dated Brian's character, David Silver.

Vanessa and Brian began dating in real life as well, resulting in an engagement in the summer of 2001. Their son, Kassius, was born in March of 2002. The couple split up shortly after his birth. This led to a legal battle over Kassius. Vanessa later alleged that Brian and his then-wife, Megan Fox, had not seen Kassius in many years and that he was not a part of Brian's life. Vanessa even claimed in 2020 that she never loved Brian. Brian, however, included her in a 2021 social media post about International Women's Day, in which he honored all of his exes, indicating that they had perhaps begun a new chapter of civility in their relationship.

An Instagram photo of Kassius that Vanessa posted confirmed this new chapter. She captioned the photo, "Headed to see dad." Her inclusion of the supportive hashtag #TeamGreen is especially important because Brian's dance partner, Sharna Burgess, is also his girlfriend of nine months. Brian and Sharna shared a few kisses before and after their foxtrot to the song, "Skate," for which they earned a score of 24 out of 40. Vanessa joked about her relationship when a fan asked, "Will you be there too?" and she replied, "Calm down I'm not mother Theresa now," with a winking emoji with its tongue out.

The post was met with much fan support, with people saying that Vanessa sets a good example for her son by cheering for his father. Vanessa acknowledged that mistakes were made when it comes to Kassius. A fan commented, "This says so much about you as a Mom," to which Vanessa replied, "I appreciate that so much. I have definitely made many mistakes as a mother. The real hero is my son and his forgiving heart. #imwithyou." This appears to be a reference to Brian's difficult relationship with Kassius. Others would like to see Vanessa take to the dance floor in a future season. She replied, "They have offered but that's a hard no for me. That's so much hard work, guts and bravery. I'm in full cheerleader mode for now." Vanessa is content to support Brian throughout his DWTS journey.

After all they have been through, Vanessa's support for Brian on Dancing With The Stars is a refreshing change. Vanessa appears to be happy that Kassius is included in Brian's life after years of alleged estrangement. As the weeks pass, fans will look forward to seeing Kassius in the live audience supporting Brian, and Vanessa cheering him on from home.

Dancing With The Stars airs Mondays at 8pm on ABC.
