A past winner of Dancing with the Stars, Shawn Johnson revealed that her husband has been hospitalized after fainting at the gym. The two athletes have welcomed their daughter and the new parents are still adjusting to the sleep deprivation that comes along with it.

Shawn, 2008 Olympic balance beam gold medalist, was the winner of Dancing with the Stars season 8. She was set up with the former NFL player thanks to Guy East, Andrew East’s older brother. Even though it took East nine months to convince Johnson to go on a second date, it all worked out as the couple has been married for four years. It has only been three weeks since Johnson has given birth to their couple’s first child, Drew Hazel East and already there is no rest.

Shawn Johnson’s husband, Andrew East had an accident while working out at the gym according to Us Weekly. On Saturday, November 23 the former NFL player fainted while exercising. On November 24th, the couple took to YouTube to share their story and an intense video which showed that East had hit his head and was found bleeding by two of his friends. After he was discovered, East was rushed to the hospital where at that point Johnson was notified. After she was shown the graphic video, the gymnast said she almost threw up because her husbands’ fall was so scary. East also posted the video on Instagram, see the terrifying post below:

In the video, which was posted on Sunday, the couple explained how the accident actually occurred saying that because of their newborn baby the two had been getting much less sleep than usual. East went on to say that with the lack of sleep he had been drinking much more caffeine than usual. Also, since his wife was no longer pregnant, the two have been enjoying glasses of wine together revealing that he was much more dehydrated than normal. The new mother chimed in saying that trying to balance work had been very stressful for the new parents. The athlete then proceeded to tell his viewers about his workout plan for the morning of the accident which included a pre-workout on his own before his friends were supposed to meet him. At 6 am, East went out to their home gym and lifted a 185lb bar where at the time he became lightheaded. After putting the weight back on the rack, he then fainted and hit his head on the floor where he started bleeding from his head. The weightlifter had to get nine staples in his head to stop the bleeding and was held overnight due to an irregularity that the doctors saw on his EKG.

Doctors told East that he had an irregular heartbeat but was cleared to go back home the next day. The incident scared East to the core, especially since he has a new baby girl who depends on him to stay alive. The two athletes told fans that they do not want to take anything for granted as every minute spent together is special. It was definitely a very special Thanksgiving for this Dancing with the Stars alum, as she had everything to be thankful for.
