Gabby Windey and Val Chmerkovskiy's Dancing With The Stars 90s night routine stood out from all the rest. As the competition narrows down, the strongest dancers of the season remain, while some of the weaker ones sadly went home. Fan favorite contestant Vinny Guadagnino was unfortunately eliminated at the end of 90s night after failing to impress judges with his Tango to "What Is Love," by Haddaway. The performance was an ode to the 1998 film A Night at the Roxbury, which includes a dance scene to the song. Heidi D'Amelio also went home, while her daughter Charli D'Amelio remains a top contestant.

While there were a lot of great DWTS performances of the night, Gabby's Samba to "Livin' La Vida Loca" by Ricky Martin brought something to the dance floor that no one else did. One of Gabby's best qualities on the show is her personality. Earlier in the season, judge Carrie Ann Inaba critiqued the contestant, telling her she didn't feel she was putting all of herself into her dancers. Since then, Gabby has made sure her personality shines through every night. This was most evident during her Prom night dance, but she pushed herself further for 90s night. Another thing Gabby had working in her favor was that her song choice was so high energy which made her performance addicting. It made fans want to watch it over and over again because the song is such an iconic 90s hit.

Gabby Windey & Val Chmerkovskiy Have Amazing Chemistry As DWTS Partners

Dancing With The Stars' Gabby Windey and Val Chmerkovskiy

DWTS host Tyra Banks couldn't stop talking about how "hot" the dance was, and when Val ripped his shirt off, he inspired judges Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli to do the same. Bruno called Val's choreography "competition standard," and he's right that Val played a huge part in why the dance was so unforgettable. As Charli mentioned, after she and Gabby went head to head in a Salsa relay, Gabby and Val have a very strong connection that comes through in their routines. Since Charli is only 18, she admitted she struggles to connect with her partner Mark Ballas the same way. Both couples received 40s for their routines, but Charli has struggled to bring as much personality to the dance floor as Gabby has. Heidi had the same issue, which sadly ended in her elimination.

Despite her fun performance, some DWTS fans don't think Gabby deserved her 40 out of 40. They noticed she made some mistakes that the judges didn’t call out. However, where her footwork may have gone wrong, she made up for with her personality and bright smile throughout the routine. Fans also aren't sure they love Charli's performances as much as the judges do. They've complained that while Charli is very talented and performs flawless routines, she does the same thing every week, and it’s getting boring.

While some DWTS fans disagreed with Gabby's score, she's arguably the only one who deserved the 40 out of 40. The Bachelorette star has a magnetic energy that only Shangela and Vinny could compete with. Gabby has displayed versatility throughout the season, which was clear in the switch from her slower Halloween Night Argentine Tango to her upbeat 90s Night Samba. Not everyone can adjust themselves to every routine and nail them all, but Gabby can. It will be hard for her and Val to top their DWTS 90s night routine, but at least it will be something fans will never forget.
