Dwayne Johnson reveals he is working on a secret video game movie project with potential ties to Microsoft and the Xbox game consoles. Johnson has enjoyed a large number of blockbuster hits over the past decade, with his introduction in the Fast and Furious franchise as Luke Hobbs in 2011's Fast Five cited as catapulting him and the series to renewed success. The former WWE star has since gone on to appear in three of the franchise's sequels and lead its first spin-off, Hobbs & Shaw, alongside co-star Jason Statham.

Outside of the Fast and Furious series, Johnson has also received acclaim for his work partnered up with Kevin Hart beginning with Central Intelligence and continuing with the rebooted Jumanji sequels. Most recently, Johnson has been one of the faces to help kickstart new franchises, including Disney's action-adventure Jungle Cruise adaptation and Netflix's action comedy hit Red Notice, for which he reunited with writer/director Rawson Marshall Thurber for the third time after Central Intelligence and Skyscraper. The star is currently gearing up to make his way to the world of superheroes, but it looks like he is ready to keep his docket full.

While chatting with Men's Journal for his long-awaited DC movie project Black Adam, Johnson has revealed he is working on a secret video game movie project. Though the actor couldn't offer details on which franchise he was helping develop for the screen, he teased it to be "one of the biggest, most bad-ss games" to grace screens. See what Johnson said below:

"I’ve always been a big Madden fan. I can’t tell you which game in particular we’re doing, but there will be an announcement this year. We’re going to bring one of the biggest, most bad-ss games to the screen—one that I’ve played for years. I’m really excited to bring it to fans around the world. Of course we’re going to do right by our gamer friends—but really we’re just going to make a great movie."

Johnson's secret video game movie project would mark his third venture into the world of big-screen adaptations following his turns in 2005's Doom and 2018's RampageThe latter adaptation saw Johnson initially express his interest in returning for a sequel, though producing partner Hiram Garcia recently downplayed the likelihood of his return due to a full schedule and interest in exploring other projects. Upon its release, Rampage fared better with critics and audiences than Doom, becoming the best-reviewed live-action video game at the time until it was surpassed by Detective Pikachu the following year and Josh Ruben's Werewolves Within in 2021.

Dwayne Johnson's description of his secret video game movie project is an appropriately vague one sure to keep audiences guessing as to which property he is eyeing next. Though he didn't outright confirm the project is tied to Microsoft or Xbox, his ongoing work with the video game studio could see one of their original franchises adapted for the big screen with Johnson, the most likely being Gears of War given a movie adaptation has been in the works at Universal Pictures for the past few years, who Johnson frequently works with. With Johnson having confirmed the announcement is coming later this year, audiences will have to keep their eyes peeled to see which video game franchise he tackles next for the screen.
