Dwayne Johnson confirms that production on Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw has officially wrapped. The Fast & Furious series began in 2001 with Rob Cohen's The Fast and the Furious, and the film series hasn't slowed down since. This year will see the first ever Fast & Furious spinoff film, which will center around the characters Luke Hobbs (Johnson) and Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham).

Production started for Hobbs & Shaw back in September 2018 when Johnson shared an image from the first day on set. Since then, Johnson has continued to keep fans in the loop on the status of the film. Shortly after production started, Idris Elba was revealed as the villain and Vanessa Kirby was revealed as Shaw's sister Hattie. The spinoff has already seen backlash from the original Fast and Furious cast, as well as a lawsuit from producer Neal H. Moritz, but production on the film still sped by. Now, it looks like production has officially wrapped on the film.

Back in February, it was reported that Hobbs & Shaw had finished filming, but Johnson has confirmed that the movie has now 100 percent finished production. Since the film was already thought to be in post-production at this point, it's likely that Hobbs & Shaw was just filming reshoots and finishing touches for the movie. Johnson even revealed he used his own motorcycle to film one of the final touches on the film, while also thanking the fans and everybody involved with the film. While Hobbs & Shaw is quickly approaching, fans also have Fast & Furious 9 to look forward to in 2020. The ninth entry in the main series was supposed to come out earlier, but was pushed back to May 2020. The film was originally supposed to be released on April 19, 2019, and then April 10, 2020, but the film was delayed likely because of the production of Hobbs & Shaw. In fact, Tyrese Gibson has publicly called out Johnson for prioritizing his spinoff over the main entry of the series several times, although his feud with the Rock is now over.

Even though it looks like Hobbs & Shaw went through some reshoots these past few months, fans shouldn't be concerned since it is fairly common for movies to go back and film final touches. If Hobbs & Shaw follows suit with the other Fast and Furious films, this movie could be another big hit for Universal Studios financially, even if it doesn't go over well with critics. Either way, fans won't have to wait too much longer to see Johnson and Statham back up on the big screen in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.
