The Wild Beyond The Witchlight is an upcoming Dungeons & Dragons campaign that will send players on a trip to the Witchlight Carnival, where they will end up in a plane called the Feywild. The party will have the chance to explore one of the most wonderful and terrifying places in the D&D multiverse, as the very nature of each of the Domains of Delight in the Feywild matches the capricious moods of its faerie ruler.

The Feywild has appeared in different editions of D&D, as the home plane of the faeries and nature spirits. The rulers of the Feywild are the Archfey, creatures of incredible power who have splintered the plane into different Domains of Delight. The Feywild might seem like a chaotic realm on the surface, but there are rules of engagement that are decided upon by the Archfey, and mastering these strange laws could be the key to the party's survival.

Wizards of the Coast has exclusively revealed some of the artwork and page excerpts from the upcoming The Wild Beyond the Witchlight to Screen Rant. Dungeons & Dragons Principal Story Designer & Project Lead on The Wild Beyond the Witchlight Chris Perkins also spoke to Screen Rant about how it reflects the content of the campaign and what players can expect to encounter in the mysterious realm of Prismeer.

Screen Rant was shown artwork and excerpts regarding a forest called Thither, which is home to a hag named Granny Nightshade. The excerpts released so far mention how her presence is causing decay in Thither. Is she a minor antagonist, a major player in Prismeer, or a potential ally to the players? Is she a manifestation of evil witch stories from fairy tales?

Granny Nightshade could be a help or a hindrance, depending on how the characters choose to deal with her. Being a hag, she’s prone to villainous behavior - but if the characters are willing to overlook that, she can solve as many problems as she creates. It’s safe to say that she is a major player in Prismeer. Whether that holds true by the end of the adventure remains to be seen, since she’s not exactly welcome there.

Will Of The Feywild & The Getaway Gang

The boy in the wanted poster (Will of the Feywild) has appeared in some of The Wild Beyond the Witchlight artwork in the past, where he’s shown with a treant and a baby displacer beast. How do they fit into the story of The Wild Beyond the Witchlight? Can the player actually hand Will in for a reward?

Will of the Feywild is the leader of a group of rapscallions who call themselves the Getaway Gang. These children were formerly captives of the hag Granny Nightshade, but they escaped with Will’s help. Lately they’ve become the bane of Granny Nightshade’s existence. Consequently, she is offering a reward for Will’s capture, so yes, the characters can turn him in and claim the reward.

The Wild Beyond the Witchlight also features an encounter with a unicorn and its watery duplicate. Unicorns have often been the ally of good-aligned parties in past D&D adventures, but not all is as it seems in the Feywild. How does the unicorn fit into the adventure?

Prismeer has two unicorns, Elidon and Lamorna, who have important roles in the story. Fate has separated them, but the characters have a chance to reunite them. It’s hard to explain their importance without spoiling the adventure, but next to the characters, they are all that stand between the villains of the adventure and their ultimate goals.
