Both dramatic and innocent, juicy and cheesy, One Tree Hill has a huge fanbase and the show has many unique qualities when compared to other teen dramas. It's a series where characters want to help each other reach their goals, follow their dreams, and find happiness. When Lucas Scott (Chad Michael Murray) learns who his real father is, it truly changes his life and his social circle expands as he learns more about where he came from. He has quite a few love interests over the years, too, most notably two best friends Brooke Davis (Sophia Bush) and Peyton Sawyer (Hilarie Burton).

Dungeons & Dragons alignments are all about morality, and the main characters of One Tree Hill fit into these categories easily.

Haley James Scott: Lawful Good

Haley James Scott (Bethany Joy Lenz) is Lawful Good. These people are kind and they want to assist others.

Making sure that those around them are happy and safe is a big goal for Lawful Good characters. Haley is exactly like this, as she tutors other high school students and becomes a loving wife and mother at a young age.

Dan Scott: Chaotic Evil

Chaotic Evil characters are the bad guys in the story. They will stop at nothing to hurt other people and get what they're looking for.

The biggest bad guy on One Tree Hill is definitely Dan Scott (Paul Johansson). His two sons, Nathan and Lucas, can't stand him, and he even kills his brother Keith with no second thoughts.

Brooke Davis: Unaligned

Brooke Davis doesn't really fit into any of the moral alignments. She would best be described as Unaligned as she thinks about what she wants out of life and then goes for it. Brooke is stylish and often acts in an unfiltered, adventurous way.

Characters who are described as Unaligned will follow their gut instead of thinking about things in terms of evil and good. This is Brooke, who had a tough time growing up and isn't quite sure how to move forward as she's got a lot of insecurity.

Peyton Sawyer: Chaotic Neutral

Peyton Sawyer is a Chaotic Neutral character. These people don't like rules and they are big on listening to what their heart and soul is telling them to do.

This is exactly Peyton, who tries to make it in the harsh music world and does whatever she can to find love, settle down, and finally feel safe.

Nathan Scott: Chaotic Good

Feeling free is important to those who fall under the Chaotic Good alignment, and Nathan Scott (James Lafferty) easily fits into this category.

Nathan loses his sense of self for awhile when he becomes a famous athlete, and he just wants to be happy with Haley and their son Jamie. His awful accident means that his life has turned out very differently than he thought that it would. Chaotic Good characters want everyone to be successful and they like equality, too.

Clay Evans: True Neutral

Robert Buckley's One Tree Hill character sounds like he would fit into the True Neutral moral alignment.

Clay isn't evil and he's not in the same category as Dan Scott, but for a while, it does seem like he's pretty lost. As a sports agent, he has to keep his eye on the prize and there's a period where he has trouble finding true happiness. Clay does have a tendency to be self-absorbed at times.

Alex Dupre: True Neutral

Alex Dupre (Jana Kramer) definitely fits into the True Neutral moral alignment, just like Clay Evans.

True Neutrals aren't trying to upset other people but they don't exactly want to help them, either. They think about what they want. This is exactly what Alex is like. She's not a terrible person by any means, but as a famous actress, she does want things to go her way.

Lucas Scott: Lawful Good

One Tree Hill Lucas Scott

Lucas Scott is Lawful Good, who is the type of person who just wants to be there for others and make sure that they're safe. Typically this would be a knight, and if anyone was going to hold this type of role in Tree Hill, it would be this character.

Sometimes Lucas can be a little frustrating as he can be a goody-two-shoes, but he does care a lot about the people in his life, and it's charming.

Quinn James: Neutral Good

Anyone who is part of the Neutral Good moral alignment is an interesting case. They want to do the right thing and help people, but if they have to rebel in order to accomplish their goals, they don't sweat it. That sets them apart from others.

Haley's sister, Quinn James (Shantel VanSanten), is just like this and she's a fairly smart main character on the show. She's a sweet person but when she has to save herself and her partner Clay from an evil woman who is stalking them, she will do whatever it takes.

Mouth McFadden: Unaligned

If someone is Unaligned, they aren't considered evil and they aren't considered good. When they make choices, they go by their gut.

This describes Mouth McFadden (Lee Norris), who spends much of One Tree Hill watching the rest of the characters making bold moves in their lives. He gets more of his own storyline near the end of the series, and his main goal is to make it in sports broadcasting. Mouth definitely lives by his gut and wants to be happy. He's a pretty inspiring character.
