After initially eyeing an early month release, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves has seen its release date delayed by four weeks in March 2023. Chris Pine leads the ensemble cast of the fantasy action-adventure, which also features Michelle Rodriguez, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, Regé-Jean Page, Hugh Grant, Chloe Coleman, and Jason Wong. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves revolves around a group of adventurers who accidentally deliver a lost relic to an evil force, requiring them to step up and fix what they've done to save the world.

Deadline has brought word that Paramount has delayed Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves' release date. Initially slated for a March 3, 2023 release date, the film will now hit theaters on March 31, coming four weeks after the last scheduled date. Additionally, the studio has moved the release date for the highly anticipated Scream 6, moving it away from Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves' new date to March 10.

While a slight delay in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves' release may come as a disappointment to some, it shouldn't be taken too seriously. Unlike previous points in its development, in which the film was originally slated for a July 2021 release, the new date shifting by four weeks isn't nearly as excessive as its earlier delays of four months, six months, and nearly a full year. Given the film appears to be largely complete, it doesn't seem likely Paramount would want to hold on to Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves for too long, especially given the rave audience reception to the trailer that was shown during this year's San Diego Comic-Con.

What will be interesting to see is how Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves' new release date could impact its box office potential. The movie reboot was previously expected to be the sole release the weekend of March 3, until the past July saw MGM push Creed III, directed by star Michael B. Jordan, to the same date. Though the Creed and Rocky franchises may not carry the same box office weight as a blockbuster project on the scale of Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, the recent boxing movies have proven to be solid hits, with Creed II grossing over $214 million, a strong improvement over its predecessor's $170 million haul.

In its new date, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves looks to have minimal competition at the box office with its March 2023 release date, with the indie boxing movie Heart of a Lion and crime drama A Thousand and One. The week prior, however, does see the release of John Wick: Chapter 4 while Shazam! Fury of the Gods will be in its third week of release, creating the possibility of a heated battle between the three films. Only time will tell when Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves arrives on March 31.
