Of all the characters in Dungeons & Dragonsperhaps none is more famous than Drizzt Do'Urden. The character was created by author R. A. Salvatore for the Icewind Dale Trilogy, but Drizzt quickly became a fan-favorite character in the Forgotten Realms. Since then, the drow (or dark elf) has gone on to appear in dozens of D&D novels and has become the star of his very own long-running book series. He's made quite a few appearances in various Dungeons & Dragons video games throughout the years, as well.

Admittedly, a lot of Drizzt Do'Urden's video game appearances have been little more than fan service. However, the upcoming Dark Alliance will finally put Drizzt at the forefront of the action. Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance is a third-person RPG that was originally set to release in the fall of 2020. It will be the first video game to actually star Drizzt Do'Urden, although the character has made cameos in several other games.

Before this, Drizzt appeared in 1997's Menzoberranzan, a dungeon crawler for PC set in the Forgotten Realms. Menzoberranzan is the underground city that serves as a home to the dark elves like Drizzt. In the game, players can partner up with Drizzt and other characters as they go diving into dungeons to search for their kidnapped companions.

Released in 2000, Icewind Dale gets its name from R. A. Salvatore's trilogy, but characters like Drizzt are only mentioned passingly. Drizzt Do'Urden did appear, however, in the Baldur's Gate games. He had a minor cameo in the first game in 1998 and made a brief appearance in Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn in 2000. In Baldur's Gate II, he can even fight alongside players as an AI character, but he can't be recruited directly into a player's group. Fans can also find him in the remastered Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition pack that released in 2019 for current-gen consoles and PC.

In 2001's Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, people can actually play as Drizzt upon beating the game and unlocking Gauntlet Mode. In Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2, which released in 2004, Drizzt Do'Urden is one of the unlockable characters offered in the game. Drizzt made his return to PC later that same year in Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone, which was even written by Drizzt's creator, R. A. Salvatore.

All of these games featured Drizzt in some capacity. However, the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance will put Drizzt Do'Urden into the starring role for the first time. Until the game releases, though, fans of the character can find Drizzt in these other Dungeons & Dragons games.
