After a delay in 2020, the new trailer for Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance showed off gameplay, a lot of recognizable monsters, and iconic characters like Drizzt Do'Urden and Bruenor Battlehammer. It's also thankfully (and finally) given fans a release date. Here's everything to know about Dark Alliance's release date and pre-order information.

When Dark Alliance was delayed in 2020, there was speculation the game had been cancelled, although a press release at the end of last year confirmed Dark Alliance was still coming out. The new Dungeons & Dragons video game is set in Icewind Dale and takes place after the popular R.A. Salvatore novel, The Crystal Shard. It will follow characters from that book, including Drizzt, Bruenor, Wulfgar, and Catti-brie. It's also just the latest in several D&D video games planned for the future, which also includes Baldur's Gate 3 (which is still in early access) and a new open-world RPG.

The Crystal Shard is arguably the most popular D&D novel of all time, with Drizzt arguably being the most popular character in D&D's multiverse. So, understandably, fans are excited to get to play as the beloved drow in a setting that's familiar and famous. The latest gameplay trailer for Dark Alliance gave fans plenty to be excited about, including an actual release date.

D&D: Dark Alliance - Release Date and Pre-Order Info

Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance will release on June 22nd, 2021. The game will release in both physical and digital versions. Additionally, a Digital Deluxe Edition will also be available for pre-order, and it includes a Lich Weapon Set and the Echoes of the Blood War expansion pack. Both the Standard and Deluxe Digital Editions will also include the Beholder Weapon Set and the game itself. Pre-orders are available for either edition for Xbox, PlayStation, and Steam on the game's official site.

So far, there's no official word on whether the Deluxe Edition will be available as a physical copy, although it seems likely since the company is releasing physical editions of Dark Alliance already. The Standard Edition of the game is only set at $39.99, while the Deluxe Edition is $59.99. This is well below the typical cost of AAA games, so it's a bit surprising. Still, it's just another reason why fans should be excited to play a Dungeons & Dragons game starring Drizzt.

While the tone of Dark Alliance's trailer is a change from other D&D video games, it looks like a great action-RPG meant to be enjoyed with friends. Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance is set to release on June 22nd, 2021, for Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5, and PC.
