The cast of Star Trek: Discovery and Wil Wheaton, the actor behind Star Trek: The Next Generation's Wesley Crusher, will join in the festivities of D&D Celebration 2021, set to promote the upcoming The Wild Beyond the Witchlight campaign book. While the book releases in stores and online on September 21, the Dungeons & Dragons event takes place afterward beginning September 24 with a special preview show the day before at 4 PM PDT (7 PM EDT).

Celebrating the pinnacle of table-top RPGs has become routine for Wizards of the Coast with the impending releases of new D&D books. Before the Witchlight campaign book promised DMs and their players materials for crafting a magical Feywild adventure, the D&D team asked the community to send in their Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft fan art to be shared on Twitter ahead of the book's release. For last year's D&D Celebration, Wizards of the Coast previewed the Tasha's Cauldron of Everything rulebook ahead of its fall release. D&D Celebration 2021 continues the tradition of hyping up a new book, spotlighting Witchlight and giving previews for Fizban’s Treasury of Dragons and Strixhaven: A Curriculum of Chaos, set to release mid October and November respectively.

Now Wizards of the Coast has listed the schedule for this year's Celebration. The two-hour game livestream featuring the cast of Star Trek: Discovery begins at 11 AM PDT on September 24. Disco Does D&D brings together Anthony Rapp, Mary Wiseman, Blu del Barrio, Ian Alexander and Wil Wheaton as player characters, with Noah Averbach-Katz serving as the game's DM. What the game will involve beyond disco remains unknown at this time. Wizards shared excerpts from The Wild Beyond the Witchlight early in the month, previewing artwork and lore of the campaign guide, set in the mystical realm of the Feywild. Beyond Prismeer Unicorns and a hag of dubious intent, Witchlight introduces new player races in the form of Fairies and Harengons, and it also introduces the Feylost and Witchlight Hand character backgrounds.

Beyond Disco Does D&D, several other game streams, panels and reveals will fill out the weekend. On the first day, diplomacy, dragon jousting and more will feature in The Great Dragon Tourney, a game hosted by High Rollers' Dungeon Master Mark Hulmes and starring Anna Prosser, Mica Burton, Nathan Sharp, Jonathan Indovino and Kate Welch as players. The next day, the first official D&D musical debuts with the aptly titled Circus of Sound game featuring Miracle Workers actress Kelly D'Angelo as the DM. Later on the first day (September 24), D&D Community Manager Brandy Camel also hosts a panel consisting of principal story designer for D&D Chris Perkins, actress Stacy Allen and RPG designer Will Doyle. The panel will delve into the vibrant and mysterious domain of Prismeer, the Witchlight campaign setting.

Having the cast of Star Trek: Discovery bring their acting chops to Dungeons & Dragons once again will surely make for an enjoyable voyage all its own. Thankfully, the wait for Disco Does D&D and the rest of D&D Celebration 2021 is not far off. Fans of Star Trek and Dungeons & Dragons alike will be able to enjoy the show next week.
