At the age of 24, Timothée Chalamet already boasts an impressive resume of films. From his breakout role as Cooper's son, Tom, in Interstellar to his lead roles in Call Me By Your Name and Beautiful Boy, Chalamet has a string of great performances under his belt. His streak was supposed to extend this year with a number of films lined up, such as Wes Anderson's The French Dispatch and Denis Villeneuve's sci-fi epic, Dune.

Despite its recent delay until 2021, Dune is still one of the most anticipated films at the moment, and its star-studded cast that includes Josh Brolin, Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Ferguson, Jason Momoa, and many more, only adds to this. Leading the movie as Paul Atreides is Timothée Chalamet and here are 10 reasons why he is perfect for the role.

Interstellar: Space Epics

In 2014, Christopher Nolan made history with his sci-fi epic, Interstellar. Thanks to the work of the brilliant theoretical physicist, Kip Thorne, Nolan was able to create one of the most scientifically accurate science-based space movies ever, and this is without mentioning the unbelievable cinematography, great cast, and incredible action sequences.

Cast as a young Casey Affleck, Timothée Chalamet played Matthew McConaughey's fictional son Tom in the epic, giving him a taste of life on a massive movie set. With Dune, Chalamet will take on a much more prominent role, but his previous experience working in space action thrillers will definitely help the star.

Miss Stevens: Taking Center Stage

In 2016, Julia Hart made her directorial debut with the road-trip indie, Miss Stevens. Receiving critical acclaim, most notably for Lily Rabe as the titular character Miss Stevens and Timothée Chalamet as the intelligent, but angsty student Billy, the film follows Billy and his classmates as they enter a drama competition across the country.

By the end of the film, Chalamet's character earned himself a name with his powerful and passionate monologue. Not only did it prove his immense acting ability, but it also showed us he is ready to take on the world and become a star of a huge franchise.

Hot Summer Nights: It's All About That Spice

In another indie film, Chalamet starred as awkward teenager Daniel, who on a summer vacation, gets lured into a drug dealing business with Alex Roe's Hunter Strawberry. The stormy summer movie failed to live up to its expectations despite its up and coming cast, however, it still managed to give us a glimpse of Chalamet's acting potential.

The drama shows Daniel as he struggles to hide his secret relationship from his drug-dealing partner, but also demonstrates a young Timothée's leadership qualities, which of course integral to his character in Dune.

Lady Bird: It's All About The Love

In Greta Gerwig's directorial debut, Chalamet plays the potential love interest and eventual snobby, morally-questionable, Kyle. Giving viewers their first taste of Chalamet as a potential suitor for the main character in yet another coming of age drama, the film pushed him to international recognition for his supporting role.

After teasing a romance between Zendaya's Chani, the movie shows us what a potential Chalamet relationship could be like, but we hope he treats Chani much better than he did Saoirse Ronan's Lady Bird in this award-winning film.

Call Me By Your Name: Propelled To Stardom

Also in 2017, Timothée Chalamet starred as the main character in Luca Guadagnino's adaption of the romance drama, Call Me By Your Name. Elio, a 17-year-old who spends his summers in beautiful Lombardy, slowly falls for his father's intern Oliver, played by The Man From U.N.C.L.E's Armie Hammer.

As the film unfolds, their beautiful romance begins to blossom, and eventually leaves us with a heartbreaking ending. In a performance nominated for best actor at the Oscars, Chalamet was able to perfectly capture a mixture of hard-hitting emotions, especially that gut-wrenching final scene.

Hostiles: Learning From The Masters

Again, despite only having a small supporting role, Chalamet still managed to show off his incredible acting ability in Hostiles. Set in 1892, the violent Western follows Christian Bale as he helps escort a family back to tribal land in Montana. Timothée's character, Pvt. DeJardin, embarks on the journey with Bale's character, on what turns out to be a very harsh and, yes, hostile trek.

Chalamet has plenty of experience working with big actors, but the opportunity to act alongside Christian Bale, who has previously led a huge franchise, The Dark Knight Trilogy, would have been perfect for the future franchise star.

Beautiful Boy: Like Father, Like Son

In this gut-wrenching adaption of two parallel novels, Chalamet plays teenager Nicolas Sheff, who struggles with his life-threatening addiction to crystal meth. Most importantly, the story focuses on the relationship between Nicolas and his father David, played by the brilliant Steve Carell, as they both try to save Nic in this hard-hitting drama.

Similarly in Dune, fans are excited to see the relationship between Paul Atreides and his father Duke Leto, played by Oscar Isaac, especially as the two prepare to move to the desert planet, Arrakis.

Little Women: Another Gerwig Film

In his second collaboration with both Greta Gerwig and Saoirse Ronan, Chalamet once again starred in an award-winning film, this time the adaption of the all-time classic, Little Women. In the film, he has a slightly more prominent role as a next-door neighbor and love interest, Laurie.

The film focuses on Ronan's Jo March and her sisters in this post-civil war classic, but nevertheless, Chalamet shines through, even with his limited screen time. Showing his incredible on-screen chemistry with the cast, he managed to give fans another electric performance, showing his charm, intelligence, and most importantly, his dance skills.

The King: All Hail The Duke

Just like his character in Dune, Timothée Chalamet played a young Henry V who, after the sudden death of his brother, becomes King of England in Netflix's The King. In it, he attempts to learn the ins and outs of leading a country, whilst also becoming aware of his father's previous sins.

Almost by design, Chalamet experienced the role of leading an empire and an army as he comes face to face with his enemies, including Robert Pattinson's The Dauphin. Just like Hal, Paul Atreides is a natural leader and there's no doubt this shows fans why he will be perfect for his upcoming role.

The French Dispatch: An Exciting Future

Although yet to be released, and delayed to 2021, Timothée Chalamet is due to star in Wes Anderson's next feature film with an incredibly star-studded cast. In classic Wes Anderson style, the comedy-drama will highlight three of the best selling stories from a European publication company.

Chalamet stars as Zeffirelli, and takes part in a story about student riots. Whilst there is much not known about the film, fans are, no doubt, excited to see the new collaboration between Anderson and Chalamet, and it's sure to be a treat.
