Fans have reimagined the logo for Denis Villeneuve's Dune reboot following the title treatment surfacing online. Based on the Frank Herbert sci-fi novel, Villeneuve is set to bring a new adaptation of Dune to the big screen later this year. After David Lynch brought his unique style to the material in 1984, the upcoming film is said to be completely different and closer to the book. But, those excited for what Villeneuve will bring to Dune have not yet had a chance to see any signs of his vision.

Without any official looks at the film, Villeneuve's past sci-fi movies Arrival and Blade Runner 2049 have been enough for many to see the potential Dune holds. It also helps that the film boasts an incredible ensemble, led by Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides. Chalamet is joined by his fictional parents Rebecca Ferguson and Oscar Isaac, as well as Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, Javier Bardem, and more. Ahead of the film's December release, the first glimpse into Dune has been revealed.

At the recent French Convention, the current logo for Villeneuve's Dune was featured and the minimalist approach has since surfaced on Reddit. As one of the only pieces of Dune content so far, it didn't take long for fans to begin reimagining the logo in higher quality. The most popular one was created by Secrets of Dune on Twitter and doubled down on the minimalism, as it removed the flare from the "e." See the official Dune logo and the recreated version below:

With Dune still 11 months away from hitting theaters, it is possible the logo could change. After all, Warner Bros. and Legendary previously used a much more traditional looking font and logo for a Dune teaser poster at a marketing expo last year. But, this new logo is the closest thing to a piece of actual promotional material released so far. It's possible this Dune logo could be officially confirmed as the final design during WB's presentation at CinemaCon - a convention where studios detail their upcoming slate to the movie theater industry - at the end of March. If not, then fans may have to wait until the marketing campaign begins later this year.

Although logos are not the most important factor in a movie's success, there is a need for WB and Legendary to make sure they are happy with the look. They are hoping that Dune is the start of an expansive franchise, so future projects would likely mimic the style of the first film. The fan-made recreation has already come under some scrutiny for making it look like the title is "Dunc" instead. With a sequel to Dune already being written and a spinoff TV show in the works for HBO Max, there can't be any chance at confusing general audiences based on the logo alone.

Update: Photos from the event featuring the Dune logo treatment have been taken down across the web so we've reached out to Warner Bros. for information and official art of the logo.
