The latest images from this fall's highly-anticipated Dune reveal new looks at Timothée Chalamet, House Atreides, and Zendaya. Once one of the biggest movies slated for 2020, Denis Villeneuve's take on Frank Herbert's iconic sci-fi novel was among those delayed from last year amid the coronavirus pandemic. The current plan is for Dune to debut in theaters and on HBO Max in late October; with that plan so far holding, Warner Bros. is gradually ramping up promotional efforts for the film.

Aiding Dune's prospects is its impressively star-studded cast. Chalamet leads the film as Paul Atreides, the son of the respected noble house that comes to lead the desert planet of Arrakis. Oscar Isaac and Rebecca Ferguson play his parents, while other supporting roles are filled out by those like Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Stellan Skarsgård, and Dave Bautista. Villeneuve crafted Dune with an eye on splitting the book into two parts, so the movie releasing this year will only tell half the story.

As part of its cover story on DuneTotal Film unveiled brand new images from the movie (via GamesRadar). The first reveals Chalamet's Paul out in the deserts of Arrakis, flanked by his mother and Stilgar (Javier Bardem), a member of the planet's Fremen. The next shows House Atreides on full display, led by Isaac's Duke Leto. Finally, the last two images have Villeneuve advising Zendaya and Chalamet on set. Check them out below.

If there's one thing that is certain about the new Dune, it's that it isn't skimping out on spectacle. Though most of the new images actually show rather simple setups, the House Atreides presentation feels appropriately grand. Meanwhile, Chalamet's appearance further cements him as the ideal Paul, from his fierce stance in the first image to his careful training in the last. Villeneuve's conversation with Zendaya in the third picture holds greater significance when considering the director's recent comments, which confirm her character Chani will be the protagonist of the Dune sequel should it get the greenlight. He has major plans for her, and it will be exciting to see them play out.

Recent weeks have seen an influx of Dune trailers and posters, which all seem to signal the movie truly is arriving in just a couple of months. After last year, when promotional efforts were largely silent beyond the release of the first trailer and some early images, these are all welcome updates. Villeneuve has proven skilled at bringing complex sci-fi tales to the big screen (Blade Runner 2049, Arrival), and audiences can't wait to see what he does with Dune.
