Dune star Timothée Chalamet confirms a trailer for the movie releases this month. Chalamet headlines an all-star cast in director Denis Villeneuve's take on the classic sci-fi novel, portraying Paul Atreides. The film is currently scheduled to debut in December, but Villeneuve recently admitted he's struggling to complete Dune on time. That has some wondering if Dune would be better served getting pushed back, giving Villeneuve additional time to finish post-production and fully realize his vision for what's intended to be a franchise-starter for Warner Bros.

However, Dune has not been delayed yet, meaning soon it will be time for WB to rev up the marketing campaign. It's been reported the first Dune trailer will be attached to Inception re-release screenings this month, along with new looks at Tenet and Wonder Woman 1984. While the studio hasn't officially confirmed that will be the case, it appears Chalamet knows when viewers will be able to get their first look at Dune.

On Twitter, Chalamet replied to a fan asking for a Dune update. He mentioned the Dune trailer will be released by the end of August. Take a look at his post in the space below:

What Chalamet doesn't reveal is an exact timeline for when to expect the trailer, and judging by his emoji choice, he isn't at liberty to discuss that information. Still, it's possible to narrow it down. The Inception re-release event takes place in the U.S. on August 21, so it will likely be around then when the Dune trailer debuts. It'll be interesting to see if it's made available online before Inception opens or not. It's fairly common for new trailers to officially release online prior to playing in theaters, but this is a unique situation. Conceivably, the Dune trailer and other sneak peeks planned for the Inception event could be theatrical exclusives for a limited time in an attempt to draw more people to the theater. Movie theaters have obviously been hit hard by the pandemic, so drumming up business in any way they can has its appeal.

Regardless of when or where the Dune trailer releases, it's exciting fans are finally going to see what Villeneuve and company crafted. Due to the immense talent on both sides of the camera, Dune is one of the most anticipated movies of 2020 and has the potential to be another great sci-fi film from Villeneuve. To date, audiences have been treated to a number of Dune still images showcasing the cast's big names, but a trailer will undoubtedly give audiences a better idea of what to expect if the film is able to come out over the holiday season. Villeneuve is known for his ambitious narratives and stunning visuals, so the Dune trailer should be a wonder to behold.
