Iconic Disney character Scrooge McDuck is the richest duck in Duckburg, a city popularized by the animated series, DuckTales. However, based on Disney comics, he may just be the richest fictional character of all. Several issues have mentioned his fortune and it's not one that is easily replicated - even in fiction.

In 2010, Forbes published an article that estimated Scrooge's net worth to be $33.5 billion, sitting below Carlisle Cullen who has a net worth of $34.1 billion and above Richie Rich whose net worth is estimated to be $11.5 billion. However, Scrooge's net worth doesn't reveal exactly how rich he is - especially by comic standards. One panel, which has been a meme poking fun at rich people, illustrates how long it would take Scrooge to lose his fortune relative to time passing.

In the story "The Magic Hourglass", Scrooge's nephews - Huey, Dewey, and Louie - are sharing one of their many adventures involving their uncles with a group of fellow campers. They describe the role the titular hourglass plays on Scrooge's fortune - and their own. After Scrooge tosses away an hourglass, he begins to lose money. This is attributed to the hourglass being genuinely magical and it's sand needing replacement. Donald and his trio of nephews set off on the adventure themselves, with Scrooge close on their heels. The old duck is eventually pictured wailing while on a rock about how he "can't go on like this - losing a billion dollars a minute! I'll be broke in 600 years!" This Disney comic story was created by Carl Barks, S. Rockwell and G. Leach in Donald Duck Adventures #16, which was published in 1989. It was later republished in Uncle Scrooge #341 (2005). Completing this calculation would provide the richest duck in Duckburg with a fortune somewhere between three hundred and fifteen quadrillion to three hundred and fifteen quintillion dollars.

This is an absurd amount of money, but according to a later comic featuring the Disney character, his wealth does not have a genuine numerical value by readers' standards. The opening chapter of The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck places his monetary assets at a total of five multiplujillion, nine impossibilidillion, seven fantasticatrillion dollars and sixteen cents. Published in the United States in 1994, comic creator Don Rosa redefines Scrooge's wealth, but it's really no less incredible than Barks' rough estimation. Whether the numerical value is accurate or not - or even higher than initially believed and calculated by Forbes - Scrooge McDuck is wealthy beyond belief.

Considering Batman's fortune loss in recent stories involving the character and the net worths of characters like Richie Rich and Carlisle Cullen, Scrooge seemingly has everyone else beat by many miles. Even when he tries to LOSE money, his financial profile is so diversified that he ends up paying himself without meaning to, based on events within Uncle Scrooge #216. Scrooge McDuck is definitely the richest duck in Duckburg, but the Disney adventurer seen in DuckTales just might be the wealthiest character ever created.
