A super cool Ducktales cosplay brings mechanical superhero Gizmoduck to life, complete with his iconic singular wheel. The 2017 series is a reboot of the massively popular late-80s/early-90s cartoon of the same name that saw Donald Duck's nephews, Huey, Dewey, and Louie solving mysteries and rewriting history alongside their uncle Scrooge McDuck in the city of Duckburg. Fans fell in love with the show's imaginative writing, catchy theme song, and a surprisingly high-quality Nintendo Entertainment System tie-in game. Once again, Disney XD has struck gold with this reboot, which has attracted old fans and new, becoming a critical and commercial success for the network.

Gizmoduck first appeared in the original series as the alter-ego of Scrooge McDuck's mild-mannered accountant, Fenton Crackshell. Using the superpowered suit, Crackshell was tasked with protecting McDuck's famously massive pile of money. Eventually, he became a local hero in his own right, fighting crime throughout Duckburg using an endless assortment of gadgets built into his suit. Crackshell appears once again in the reboot, this time voiced by Lin-Manuel Miranda of  Hamilton fame. Ducktales is the "it cartoon" it would seem and has featured many famous guest stars.

Given the renewed interest in the series and Gizmoduck, YouTube channel Alien Rides teamed up with Tone Touch (@touch415 on Instagram) to bring the character to life. Tone Touch, an avid skater, designed the costume. Alien Rides, who features motorized scooters and skateboards, posted a video wearing the outfit and riding an electric unicycle around to mimic the character's iconic singular wheel.

The costume is downright phenomenal. At specific points in the video, you could easily be tricked into thinking you're looking at a CG model of the character and not a real costume. The Gizmoduck suit is covered in independently blinking lightbulbs and sports a massive duck beak to boot. As if the look's excellent recreation wasn't good enough, what sells the whole ensemble is the video itself. Seeing Gizmoduck bob and weave along the street on his motorized wheel is a real treat and brings the hero to life – ne'er-do-wells beware.

The creativity that Ducktales inspires is a real treat. Older fans are delighted to see their favorite characters back, and now they have the skills and the resources to make their dreams come true. What 90s kid could have imagined a real Gizmoduck on an electric unicycle? Gizmoduck isn't the only classic character to return. The series has slowly but surely featured cameos from fan-favorite Darkwing Duck, who once starred in his own spin-off series. Even characters from other Disney Afternoon classics have made an appearance, including the villainous Don Karnage from TaleSpin. Whoever's up next, there's undoubtedly someone out there dreaming of riding around town dressed up as them. That's dedication.
