Despite the name, Duckburg, the setting of DuckTales, is not just a city for ducks - there are other kinds of birds there, too. Indeed, the mallard metropolis is home to a wide number of anthropomorphic avians. One might say that Duckburg is truly for the birds.

In truth, Duckburg is home to a wide variety of cartoon animals. The original 1987 DuckTales series and the Uncle Scrooge comics that inspired it featured several types of sentient animal. These included ducks, chickens, pigs, and dogs, like Goofy and his son, Max.

The 2017 DuckTales reboot series further diversified Duckburg, crafting a shared universe made up of shows which once aired as part of the syndicated Disney Afternoon line-up of the 1980s and 1990s. This includes shows like Goof Troop, Chip N' Dale Rescue Rangers, and Tale Spin. The series has also added a plethora of bird species into the DuckTales canon. Here's a rundown of every kind of bird to be found in Duckburg.

Ducks

Duck Tales Scrooge McDcuk Finds A List Of Lost Treasures

The most common type of bird to be found in Duckburg is, unsurprisingly, ducks. Most of the ducks, including Scrooge McDuck, Donald Duck, and their family, appear to be of the American Pekin breed. Yet there are other kinds of ducks in Duckburg, with local reporter Roxanne Featherly sporting the green facial feathers of a Mallard.

Chickens

A number of chickens also roost in Duckburg. The most notable of these is Gyro Gearloose; an eccentric inventor in Scrooge McDuck's employ. Another is Gandra Dee; a rival scientist who was recently revealed to be an agent of the nefarious organization FOWL.

Vultures

DuckTales Board of Directors vultures

Greedy businessmen are often compared to vultures, hovering over failing companies and just waiting for the right moment to swoop in and feast on what remains. In the case of the McDuck Enterprises Board of Directors,  the metaphor is quite literal, with three buzzards overseeing the management of Scrooge McDuck's finances. Unbeknownst to Scrooge, however, his trusted accountants and lawyers are secretly the leaders of the evil spy organization FOWL.

Geese

DuckTales Donald Duck Louie Duck and Gladstone Gander

DuckTales season 1, episode 6, "The House of the Lucky Gander", introduced Donald's cousin Gladstone Gander (who is as lucky as Donald is unlucky) into the series. Despite the name, Gladstone looks more like a duck than a goose. Perhaps his mother was a duck who married into a goose family?

Herons

DuckTales Black Heron

Black Heron is a heron and an agent of FOWL, who was a rival to Bentina Beakley in the days when she was still a super spy instead of Scrooge McDuck's super housekeeper. Black Heron is remarkably well preserved and still in FOWL's employ some 50 years later. She is also the mad scientist responsible for the creation of the Rescue Rangers in the DuckTales reboot reality.

Parrots

DuckTales Huey, Dewey and Mark Beaks

A number of parrot people make their home in Duckburg. The most famous and infamous of them is Mark Beaks, a billionaire tech magnate, African grey parrot and rival of Scrooge McDuck, who tried to steal the secret of the GizmoDuck armor more than once. Another is José Carioca; a Brazilian green parrot who is one of Donald Duck's oldest friends and was once part of his old band, The Three Caballeros.

Hummingbirds

Duck Tales Violet Sabrewing and her fathers

Violet Sabrewing was introduced into DuckTales in the season 2 episode "Friendship Hates Magic," where she befriended Webby after they met at the library while both were researching the supernatural. Violet is a violet saberwing, a breed of Central American hummingbird. Both of Violet's fathers also appear to be hummingbirds as well.

Loons

DuckTales Benjamin Frankloon

It is said that there's a fine line between genius and insanity. Benjamin Franklin expy Benjamin Frankloon appears to have erased that line, being a loon in both senses of the word. Then again, it's hard to fault him for being a little crazy after being sent forward in time and press-ganged into acting as a television weather reporter, when he doesn't fully understand the strange wand that captures his voice.

Falcons

DuckTales Mark Beaks and Falcon Graves

Falcon Graves was introduced into DuckTales in the season 1 episode "The Infernal Internship of Mark Beaks!" As his name suggests, he is a falcon and gravely serious about his job as an industrial spy. Employed by Mark Beaks, Graves is as unethical as his boss and has no qualms about hurting children and other innocents in the line of duty.

Robins

DuckTales Red Feather

Red Feather was a robin who acted as a contact in the augmented reality spy game Double-O Duck. She gassed Dewey and Launchpad to death during their first play-through of the game in "Double-O-Duck in You Only Crash Twice!" after Launchpad failed to give her the proper code phrase to secure her help. She proved much more agreeable on their second time through the game.

Finches

Duck Tales Scrooge McDuck With Painting of Isabella Finch

DuckTales season 3 premiere introduced the character of Isabella Finch, who was a finch. A legendary explorer, treasure hunter and adventurer, Finch went on to found the Junior Woodchucks so that young people could be trained in the same skills that made her famous. Unsurprisingly, she was worshiped by a young Scrooge McDuck.

Storks

DuckTales Storkules and Donald Duck

A stork and the immortal Greek god of strength, Storkules is most proud to call himself Donald Duck's comrade in arms, with the two having shared many great adventures in the days before Donald settled down to raise his sister's sons. While Donald is less enthusiastic about their friendship, he still allowed Storkules to crash on his houseboat in the season 2 episode "Storkules in Duckburg," after Storkules was kicked out of Olympus by his father, Zeus, in a bid to teach him some responsibility.

Swans

DuckTales Selene Dewey Duck and Webby

Selene is the Greek goddess of the moon and a good friend of Della Duck, who assisted Dewey Duck in his quest to find his missing mother. The classic beautiful swan, Selene also had an unexpected adventurous streak, given her regal manner. Another notable swan is director Alistair Boorswan, who planned to bring Darkwing Duck back to prominence with a grim-and-gritty film reboot in the season 2 episode "The Duck Knight Returns".

Owls

DuckTales Zan Owlson

Zan Owlson is an owl and the former long-suffering CEO of Glomgold Industries. Owlson took over management of the company in Flintheart Glomgold's absence and attempted to steer it away from its primary products; convoluted evil schemes and cheap knock-offs of everything McDuck Enterprises makes. Showing the wisdom for which owls are famous, she left the company after trying to reign in Glomgold's excess throughout DuckTales season 2 and took a job working for Scrooge McDuck.
