Marvel’s Drax the Destroyer is mostly known for his MCU appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy, but his comic counterpart has a weird and largely unknown power. Unfortunately, it also ruined that of Camille Bennally, better known as Cammi. This happened in the four-issue mini-series Drax the Destroyer, by Keith Giffen and illustrated by Mitch Breitweiser.

Created by Jim Starlin and first appearing in Invincible Iron Man #55, Drax the Destroyer has had many different incarnations over the years. The most recent began with the 2005 mini-series, which preceded the Marvel cosmic blockbuster crossover event Annihilation. During the miniseries, Drax is on a prison transport ship that crashes in Alaska. Once there, he has to battle the other inmates while also protecting a girl he mistakes for his daughter. At one point Drax is killed, but he re-emerges as a slimmer and more intelligent version of himself.

After re-merging, Drax mentally bonds with the girl, named Cammi, in order to gain information. But the bond works both ways. Cammi absorbs Drax's memories and emotions, as well. From that point on the two are connected, and, as a Skrull points out, Cammi's own kind (humans) will subconsciously sense this connection and shun her. When the authorities arrive to pick Drax and the other inmates up, Cammi goes with him, essentially becoming his sidekick during the upcoming Annihilation saga.

This ability to bond with individuals of other species can come in handy for Drax as he visits many different planets, but in Cammi's case, it dooms her. With an alcoholic mother, Cammi doesn't have a great home life, but her story is a tragic one after meeting Drax. He abandons her in order to search for his own daughter. She's later abducted by Arcade to take part in his cruel Murder World before eventually being eaten by a cosmic parasite. It's unknown whether or not she would have had some type of normal life on Earth after Drax imprinted on her, but it was certainly a cruel life she lived in space, dying at a very young age.

It's worth noting that Cammi did get revenge of sorts on Drax. At one point, she picks up a bounty that Pip the Troll had placed on Drax and captures him by freezing everyone on his ship. It seems Cammi enjoyed her time as a space pirate largely in part due to Drax abandoning her, but it's hard to ignore the fact that she became cold and callous along the way, obviously due to Drax being a terrible adoptive parent, as would be expected of any member of the Guardians of the Galaxy.
