The Xbox line of systems is about to receive one of the best entries in the Dragon Quest series, as Dragon Quest Builders 2 has leaked for Xbox One and Series X/S, and it will be coming to Game Pass on day one. The mainline Dragon Quest series is composed of turn-based RPGs, while the Builders series are action RPGs that use the building elements from Minecraft.

The story of Dragon Quest Builders 2 follows the Hero, who is one of the last builders in existence. The builders have the power to create structures and draw blueprints in the flash of an eye. The Hero washes up on the Isle of Awakening, where they encounter an amnesiac warrior named Malroth. The two start a quest to rebuild their shattered world, while unearthing the secrets of Malroth's past. Dragon Quest Builders 2 is a highly-acclaimed game that built upon the formula of the original game, by adding a multiplayer mode that allowed players to work together.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 was originally released for Nintendo Switch, PC (through Steam), and PS4 in 2019. The game is finally coming to Xbox systems next week. Fans on the ResetEra forums noticed that Dragon Quest Builders 2 now has a Microsoft Store page, with information confirming that it's coming to Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S on May 4, 2021. The Xbox version of the game appears to contain the paid DLC from the existing versions, including Hotto Stuff Pack, Modernist Pack, Aquarium Pack, Designer’s Sunglasses, Historic Headwear, and the Dragonlord’s Throne. There are no links for the original Dragon Quest Builders on the Microsoft Store, so that might not be coming over.

Not only is Dragon Quest Builders 2 coming to Xbox systems, but it's also going to be available on Game Pass for PC and Xbox on day one. It's even possible to install the game onto an Xbox system from the Microsoft Store link. Oddly, Microsoft has yet to announce the game. It will likely be announced along with the next batch of Game Pass titles, as that's what happened when Octopath Traveler was announced for Xbox systems and Game Pass.

Microsoft has had a great relationship with Square Enix over the past few years, especially in regards to Game Pass. The people with a Game Pass subscription have access to numerous Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts games, as well as Octopath Traveler. Dragon Quest 11 S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition launched on Game Pass as well at the end of 2020. Dragon Quest Builders is a phenomenal game and it's another reason why JRPG fans should be interested in seeking out a Game Pass subscription.
