The fantastical world of Xadia is returning with the first The Dragon Prince season 4 trailer. Created by Avatar: The Last Airbender alum Aaron Ehasz and Justin Richmond, the series revolves around teenage prince Callum, his half-brother Ezran and an elf named Rayla as they set off to end a millennia-spanning conflict between humanity and the magical creatures of Xadia. The group, with the help of the titular dragon prince Azymondias, also contend with the dark mage Viren as he seek to advance the human race and becomes corrupted by an ancient Startouch elf known as Aaravos.

Led by Jack De Sena, Paula Burrows, Sasha Rojen, Jason Simpson and Racquel Belmonte, The Dragon Prince has scored largely positive reviews from critics and audiences alike across its first three seasons, namely for its voice cast, animation and mature themes, though its LGBTQ+ representation has divided many. Thanks to the show's continued success, Netflix has renewed The Dragon Prince through season 7, allowing the creative duo to complete their saga plans for the fantasy drama. After leaving audiences hanging with its explosive season 3 finale, Netflix is giving fans of the series a tease of what's to come from The Dragon Prince season 4.

Though the Dragon Prince season 4 trailer may not reveal much in the way of actual story beats for the new season, it does feature plenty of hints of what's to come from the show's return. Its new subtitle, "The Mystery of Aaravos," seemingly teases that more of the villain's backstory could be explained in the new season after being kept largely under wraps up to this point. With Aaravos' power growing and those he's manipulating seemingly getting closer to learning of where he's being imprisoned, it seems possible he may finally break free and become a proper threat for the world by the end of The Dragon Prince season 4.

The other major tease from The Dragon Prince season 4 is Aaravos' grasp on Viren, seemingly viewing the dark mage as simply a pawn in his game of chess. The Dragon Prince season 3 finale notably saw Viren briefly killed by Rayla and separated from the Startouch elf, only for his daughter Claudia to revive him and reveal that the caterpillar Aaravos was using to communicate with Viren is metamorphosing into something else. With Netflix now releasing the first Dragon Prince season 4 trailer, fans of the series should look forward to a premiere date announcement in the near future.
