The Dragon Prince season 4, episode 1, "Rebirthday," has been released online for free ahead of the season's upcoming premiere next week. The Netflix animated fantasy series follows the adventures of Prince Callum and Prince Ezran after their kingdom is attacked by Elves in retaliation for the murder of the Dragon King and his egg by King Harrow of Katolis and his High Mage, Viren. Following the revelation that the egg survived, Callum and Ezran team up with the Moonshadow Elf Rayla to travel to the magical world of Xadia to return the egg and stop an impending war.

Season 3 finds the heroes successful as they have returned the now-hatched Dragon Prince to his home, defeated Viren's enchanted army, and killed the mage. However, it is later revealed that Viren is resurrected by his daughter Claudia two years later using dark magic. In the graphic novel, The Dragon Prince: Through the Moon, Rayla discovers that Viren survived and ventures off alone to find and stop him once and for all. During this time, Ezran assumes the throne of Katolis with Callum as his High Mage.

Claudia explains to her father that she had to do unimaginable things to bring him back to life. Clearly a painful ordeal, Viren may see his daughter's sacrifice as his fault, pushing him to make a change in his life to protect those that he loves.
