The Dragon Prince Renewed For Season 3 At Netflix

The Dragon Prince Season 2 Callum Ezran Bait Zym

Netflix renews The Dragon Prince for season 3, announced during the show's WonderCon 2019 panel, and unveils a new poster for the animated series. Set in a magical world where humans, dragons and elves coexist, The Dragon Prince follows young human princes Callum (Jack DeSena) and Ezran (Sasha Rojen), who set out on a journey with the Moonshadow Elf Rayla (Paula Burrows) to return the dragon prince to his mother. However, the journey is made all the more difficult by the king's advisor Viren (Jason Simpson) and his children, Claudia (Racquel Belmonte) and Soren (Jesse Inocalla).

Created by Aaron Ehasz (Avatar: The Last Airbender) and Justin Richmond (Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception), The Dragon Prince season 1 premiered on Netflix in September 2018 and quickly earned a dedicated fan following. As a result, Netflix renewed The Dragon Prince for season 2, which was announced during the show's New York Comic Con 2018 panel. The Dragon Prince season 2 hit the streaming service in February and now fans can rest assured knowing more adventures in the land of Xadia are coming.

During The Dragon Prince WonderCon 2019 panel, the show's creators announced the series has been renewed for season 3 at Netflix. Further, new key art for The Dragon Prince season 3 was released, featuring the young titular dragon prince himself, Azymondias - Zym for short - and an adult dragon. The exact premiere date of The Dragon Prince season 3 was not revealed, but will no doubt be announced later this year. Check out the season 3 art below.

Considering The Dragon Prince season 2 premiered about five months after the show's initial debut, season 3 could release as early as July. The Dragon Prince typically makes its big announcements at fan conventions, as a way of honoring their dedicated fan following, so whenever the premiere date is revealed, it'll likely be during a show panel. Further, The Dragon Prince will no doubt have a presence at Comic-Con International in San Diego this summer, though what exactly they'll reveal there remains to be seen.

For now, fans will have to speculate about what The Dragon Prince season 3 will entail. After the ending of The Dragon Prince season 2, the show is sure to dive even deeper into the various types of magic within this fantasy world. Callum will no doubt continue his exploration of magic, while he further continues on the journey to Xadie to deliver Zym back to his mother. But there's also more to be discovered about the elves, as well, like the Startouch Elf Aaravos and the Sunfire Elves. Certainly, there's plenty more story and world to explore in The Dragon Prince, and now fans can officially look forward to season 3.
