A new leak is hinting at Bandai Namco’s Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot releasing on the Nintendo Switch in the future. The action RPG from Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 developer CyberConnect2 was received relatively well by both critics and fans when it was initially released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC at the beginning of 2020. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot ended up selling pretty well in its first month of being available too, as it was last reported that the game has sold at least 2 million copies – although that number may be much higher at this point.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has also kept its playerbase entertained by releasing several DLC packs since its launch, with the first two DLCs introducing the characters and storylines of the Battle of Gods Saga and Resurrection 'F' Saga from Dragon Ball Super. A free update was also released last October that added an online card battle mini-game called Dragon Ball Card Warriors to Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. The addition of the Dragon Ball Card Warriors within Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is similar to the inclusion of mini-games in other titles such as Gwent in The Witcher 3.
Now it looks like more people may be able to play Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot as leak group LeakyPandy has shared on Twitter that the game may be making its way to the Nintendo Switch. According to the group, they have gathered information that leads to several titles under Bandai Namco being announced for a release on the Switch and one of those is Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. Bandai Namco also recently released a trailer for the game’s third DLC pack, Trunks: The Warrior of Hope, which included logos of the Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X/S. While the inclusion of the Xbox Series X/S logo turned out to be official, the publisher eventually announced that the Switch logo was a mistake. Despite that, it still lends credence to this latest leak.
The other games that LeakyPandy mentions in their tweet include ones that will also see releases on other platforms. These include what may be a Tales of Destiny remake for the PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, as well as the release of Tales of Arise on Xbox Game Pass. Dark Souls was also mentioned although it’s unclear what it exactly entails as the remaster of the game is already available on Nintendo Switch. Gundam Breaker 4 was also included for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S but it’s unclear whether it pertains to 2018’s New Gundam Breaker or a new title in the series.
The release of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot on the Nintendo Switch will certainly help increase its sales and audience and timing it with the release of the game’s next DLC, which is slated for a Summer 2021 release, would be a great way to add even more interest for the game on the platform.
