Eight teams of warriors competed in Dragon Ball Super's Tournament of Power. The Tournament of Power, which was the most inclusive story ever attempted by the Dragon Ball franchise, introduced dozens of new characters, and included several fan-favorites who weren't normally included in the action.

The fighting that took place in the tournament provided Goku, Vegeta, and Gohan with some of the most challenging battles of their lives by allowing them to face off with a number of new characters, such as Jiren, Ribrianne, Dyspo, and more. The battles in the tournament pushed these heroes to new limits. Hosted by the Grand Zenos, the Tournament of Power was designed as a contest that would determine the fate of eight of the 12 universes. Each universe was to be represented by a total of ten of its most powerful warriors. If a universe lost the tournament, they would in turn be erased from existence.

According to the rules, only one tournament could be left standing once the allotted time - 48 minutes - ran out. To the winner would go the ultimate prize: the Super Dragon Balls. For over 30 episodes, 80 fighters gathered together on an enormous ring and battled it out until the final episode of the series. Here's every team that participated in Dragon Ball Super's Tournament of Power.

Universe 9

Dragon Ball Super Universe 9 Trio of Danger

Bergamo, Basil, and Lavender, the three canine creatures who make up the Trio of Danger, saw how powerful Goku was in the Grand Zeno Expo, so they rallied their allies to team up on him early in the Tournament of Power. With Goku and Vegeta working together, Bergamo and his team were no match for the two Saiyans. Universe 9's whole team was eliminated in just one episode.

Universe 10

Dragon Ball Super Universe 10

Universe 10's God of Destruction, Rumsshi, made a questionable choice when he decided that brawns were more important than brains when picking the warriors for his team. Led by Murichim, Universe 10's team didn't fare very well, but one of their fighters, an honorable warrior named Obni, was able to make a valiant effort against Ultimate Gohan. Obni's defeat, and the ensuing destruction of Universe 10 was a big moment for all the characters involved, as it helped them to come to terms with the fact that good people had to be killed so that the rest of them could survive.

Universe 6

Dragon Ball Super Universe 6 Hit Cabba Frost

Universe 6 lost to Universe 7 in a previous tournament, but for this competition, they were stronger than ever under Cabba's leadership. Joined by Super Saiyans Caulifla and Kale, and Namekians Saonel and Pirina, Cabba's team consisted of some of the strongest characters in the entire tournament. Hit was even able to give Universe 11's Jiren a challenge, and the fusion of Caulifla and Kale forced Goku to go Ultra Instinct for the second time. However, all their power wasn't enough. Once their last fighters, Saonel and Pirina, were eliminated by Piccolo and Gohan, Universe 6 was erased.

Universe 2

Dragon Ball Super Universe 2

Universe 2's team, which was led by Ribrianne, was arguably the most unusual of them all. Each combatant on the team -- Ribrianne especially -- talked most of love and beauty throughout the fighting, and claimed that the "power of love" would grant them victory. Ribrianne and her friends weren't strong enough to truly challenge Goku or Vegeta, but they did manage to hang in there for most of the tournament, even after their leader was defeated by Android 18. Their team was eliminated after Rabanra, Zarbuto, and Zirloin were hit with a Kamehameha from Goku.

Universe 4

The Universe 4 team's most powerful combatant was their leader, Ganos, a man who could transform into a giant, bird-like monster. He was gaining in power so quickly that there's no telling what heights he would have reached if he hadn't been defeated by Master Roshi. Despite this great loss, Universe 4 outlasted most of the others thanks to the devious tactics of their God of Destruction, Quitela, who devised a scheme that relied on sneak attacks from seemingly invisible fighters. For the most part, these attempts were foiled by Piccolo. When Piccolo went down, it took Android 17 to defeat the last Universe 4 fighter, a tiny insect named Damom.

Universe 3

Dragon Ball Super Universe 3

Dr. Paparoni's team of robots made it to the final minutes, but not through constant fighting. They didn't take part in a lot of the action until toward the end of the tournament when Universe 7 had to turn their attention to them. After several of these robots fused into one being - Anilaza - the Universe 3 team forced the six remaining Universe 7 fighters to unite. After a fierce battle, the robots of Universe 3 and Dr. Paparoni were finally removed from the equation.

Universe 11

The fighters on Universe 11's team were all representatives of a galactic peace-keeping organization called the Pride Troopers. Most of the Pride Troopers fell to Goku, Caulifla, Kale, and the Androids during the first half of the tournament, but that didn't hurt Universe 11's chances, as they boasted three of the strongest fighters in the multiverse: Jiren, Top, and Dyspo. Each of the three proved to be a force to be reckoned with, with Jiren being the greatest of them all. Just the three of them alone were nearly powerful enough to defeat the combined forces of Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Frieza, and Android 17.

Universe 7

Dragon Ball Super Universe 7 Goku Gohan Vegeta

Led by Gohan, Universe 7's team was comprised of Goku, Frieza, and the Z-Warriors. From start to finish, Goku and his friends had to contend with fighters from across all seven of the other competing universes. There were several close calls, with Goku and the others having to survive numerous, clever attempts to have him eliminated. Since Goku's power was known to everyone, he was regarded by most of them as one of their biggest threats. That being said, Goku was far from Universe 7's only asset. Even weaker heroes like Piccolo and Master Roshi pitched in and eliminated their fair share of enemies.

One by one, each universe was eliminated until all that was left was a handful of warriors from Universes 7 and 11. At the end of the final battle, Goku and Frieza sacrificed themselves to beat Jiren, and Android 17 was left as the last man standing. Once Android 17 won the Tournament of Power for Universe 7, he was awarded the Super Dragon Balls, which he then used to fully restore all seven of the erased universes.
