Kale’s arc in the Tournament of Power story serves as a blueprint for how Broly can join the Z-Warriors in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. After giving Goku and Vegeta one of the most difficult battles of their lives, the Legendary Super Saiyan was finally taken down at the end of the movie by Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta. But despite his defeat, Broly’s time in the Dragon Ball franchise hasn’t come to an end just yet.

Dragon Ball Super’s take on the classic villain from the non-canon Dragon Ball Z films is one of over a dozen characters confirmed to appear in the anime’s upcoming movie. Picking up a few years after Dragon Ball Super: Broly ended, the sequel will send at least two of the Z-Warriors – Gohan and Piccolo – into combat against the new Red Ribbon Army. As one might expect, many of the anime’s supporting characters, such as Krillin, Yajirobe, and Bulma, will be along for the ride. Arguably the most interesting inclusion thus far is Broly, who was perceived by some as a one-and-done villain. However, it’s since become apparent that the franchise will find a way to continue his story.

Looking at what Dragon Ball has done with other villains, it’s certainly plausible that Broly’s future could involve a heroic turn. Vegeta, Piccolo, Majin Buu, and Android 17 all started out as powerful antagonists, but are now counted as trustworthy allies of Goku and the others. Not only that, but this version of Broly isn’t evil. The problem though, is that Broly’s temper may stand in the way of Goku and Vegeta ever taking him into battle with them. But if Broly copies Kale, he can follow in the footsteps of several other Dragon Ball villains and become a full-fledged member of the Z-Warriors in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.

Broly’s Rage Problem Prevents Him From Being A Z-Warrior

Broly powering up in Dragonball Z

It’s no secret that Dragon Ball Super’s Broly is a good-natured person with a gentle side, but that doesn’t mean he can easily be utilized as a hero. He was saved by his friends at the end of the movie, but one of his biggest problems remains unresolved. As the Legendary Super Saiyan, Broly is plagued by uncontrollable bouts of rage. That was evident by how he fought against Goku and Vegeta. His positive traits didn’t stop him from hitting the two Z-Warriors with everything he had. Admittedly, Frieza murdering his father made the issue exponentially worse, but Broly was already shown to possess a short fuse. Since he can’t control his temper (especially in his Legendary Super Saiyan form), he’s not at a point yet where he can fight alongside Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, and the other heroes. If he were to join them against a future Dragon Ball villain, Broly could very well prove to be a much bigger threat than their actual opponent.

Kale’s True Legendary Super Saiyan Form Explained

During the Tournament of Power story, it was revealed that Kale is a loose canon for the same reason as Broly. That makes sense, considering that she’s essentially his Universe 6 counterpart. She too is a Legendary Super Saiyan. Her rage made her a danger to her own allies and a wild card in the tournament. Fortunately for her friends, a development with her character made her one of Universe 6’s best weapons. During her team-up with Caulifla against Goku, Kale accessed a new level of power.

Referred to as the True Legendary Super Saiyan form, this state slimmed down Kale’s bulky physique. Most importantly, it allowed Kale to retain her senses in combat, while also providing a substantial boost to the power she already had as a Legendary Super Saiyan. With her newfound strength, she was able to fight on par with Super Saiyan 2 Caulifla and even managed to challenge Goku. Thanks to this discovery, Kale is no longer considered a liability and would most certainly be considered a top candidate for any team that Universe 6 puts together in the future.

What Broly’s Story in Super Hero Could Be

For now, little is known about Broly’s role in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. A brief shot in the first trailer showed him fighting Goku on Beerus’ planet. Artwork for the movie has revealed that his two friends from the Broly movie, Cheelai and Lemo, will be around as well. What all this suggests is that Goku will keep his promise from Broly’s ending about visiting him again. It seems that Goku will arrive at Broly’s new home and bring him to Beerus’ planet, where he and Vegeta have been training diligently with Whis. Goku, who previously expressed an interest in sparring with Broly, could intend to test his progress by fighting him in a rematch. And given that Vegeta isn’t one to let Goku get all of the action, it stands to reason that Broly will have to go up against both of them in Super Hero.

It’s possible that during this battle, they’ll do more than just use Broly to measure their own abilities. Broly himself could benefit from it, particularly if Goku, Vegeta, or Whis attempts to help him gain control over his rage. Since all three were witnesses to Kale’s True Legendary Super Saiyan transformation in the Tournament of Power, any of them could give guidance to Broly and help him achieve the same state.

Broly Can Join The Z-Warriors In Super Hero’s Ending

Based on what’s been shown so far, the chances of Broly taking part in Super Hero's main story are rather low.  Since none of the trailers have showed Goku or Vegeta fighting the android villains, it looks their story will be a subplot set primarily on Beerus’ planet, far away from Gohan and Piccolo’s battle with Gamma 1 and Gamma 2 on Earth. If that’s the case, Broly may not fight on the side of the Z-Warriors in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, but the movie’s ending could set the stage for that to happen in a later movie or the next Dragon Ball anime. If Broly succeeds in unlocking Kale’s True Legendary Super Saiyan form, Goku could introduce Broly to the rest of his friends on Earth and make him an ally they can turn to the next time a new threat emerges. Earlier, he was depicted as being stronger than both Goku and Vegeta, which speaks volumes about the impact he could have. If they haven’t surpassed him, Broly has the potential to be the most powerful member of the Z-Warriors.
