  • Each character's alignment with their Zodiac sign enhances their relatability to fans who share the same sign, creating a deeper connection between fans and the characters.

With a huge cast of characters, Dragon Ball Super has a hero for everyone. While the main Dragon Ball warriors like Goku, Vegeta, and Piccolo are the center of the story, they're backed up by a host of different personalities, with every fan having a secret favorite who they wish got more of the spotlight. Presenting those characters as the zodiac signs that traditionally represent their most noteworthy qualities is a great way to explore the huge cast and perhaps even find a new favorite.

While there are multiple Dragon Ball characters who could represent each of the twelve signs, some perfectly fit the role, offering an obvious point of connection for fans. That's why Screen Rant is assigning each sign of the Zodiac its own Dragon Ball hero, giving fans the chance to discover a connection they may not have known they had, or just to lay claim to the heroes to whom they already feel an unexplained bond.

Aquarius: Piccolo

dragon ball manga art piccolo

Aquarians are often described as being unique, creatively eccentric, and self-reliant. No character fits this description better than Piccolo. Often found making the best of his own company, Piccolo fights to the beat of his own drum. Holding both his own personality as well as the remains of his father's outlook, Piccolo demonstrates an Aquarian belief that no one is the same person today as they were yesterday. Moreover, the Aquarian sense of social justice is repeated numerous times in Piccolo's choice to fight the good fight rather than remain obedient to dogma. All of these Aquarius traits are particularly evident in Piccolo's role in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero where Piccolo's creative thinking and self-reliance lead him to see a growing threat no one else noticed.

Pisces: Shenron

Like Pisces, Shenron is a wise and sensitive soul who benefits anyone who seeks his assistance. Known to be creative, intuitive, and deeply empathetic to anyone who summons him, Shenron is not only a "granter" of Dragon Ball wishes, but also an informed advisor, who - like Pisces - has a deep, heartfelt understanding of the cosmos, and is happy to use his knowledge and intuition to craft a wish in a manner that brings the most benefit to the wish-maker. A natural therapist, Shenron is always willing to help others realize that life is much more than what they see. Though Shenron might seem harsh on the surface, his true core is perfectly fitting of a Pisces.

Aries: Freiza

Frieza's greatest Dragon Ball defeat was totally unnecessary.

While Frieza might mistakenly be thought of as a Scorpio, the much more accurate description is that of Aries. Considered the leader of the Zodiac, Aries is bold, energetic, pioneering, and permanently unafraid to tackle any obstacle to their enjoyment of life. These characteristics are displayed in Frieza, with his natural confidence, leadership ability over the Saiyans, and his willingness to take up any challenge, especially those that give him the chance to demonstrate his physical prowess. Sadly, Frieza generally chooses to wield these characteristics in the name of evil. Still, few things are more Aries than Frieza showing up to a fight he wasn't involved in to show off his powerful new form and threaten some old rvials.

Taurus: Granolah

Taurus, the hardest-working sign in the Zodiac, is known for being reliable, trustworthy, and ambitious. No one personifies those characteristics better than Dragon Ball Super's Granolah. Focused since his childhood on avenging the eradication of the Cerealian race, Granolah has demonstrated the singularity of purpose, willpower, and stubbornness that is so characteristic to Taurus. Luckily for Goku and Vegeta though, Granolah was also willing to switch alliances when he realized he was being exploited.

Gemini: Trunks and Goten

Trunks and Goten in Dragon Ball Super.

Versatile, dynamic, and extremely adaptable to every situation, no other characters channel the chameleon-like energies of a Gemini better than the young powerhouses of Trunks and Goten. Strong individually but god-tier when working together, Trunks and Goten magnificently express the Gemini principle of "two heads are better than one," especially when it requires Gemini's ability to change mindset depending on different goals, and focus all their energy on short but significant bursts of time. Though Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero didn't quite give the series' two Geminis their moment to shine, their partnership and friendship was recently put on display in the Dragon Ball Super manga.

Cancer: Gas

Gas' "first-in, last out" mentality when it comes to protecting his family is the classic Cancerian persona of putting family and friends first above all. Additionally, Gas' quiet, almost shy personality reflects Cancer's mindset of letting actions speak louder than words. Perhaps most telling is Gas' temperament. Like Cancers, Gas is extremely in-touch with his moods. In fact, depending on whether his headband restraints are removed, this can lead to fits of rage that make him one of the most powerful fighters around.

Leo: Vegeta

Born of royal blood and always happy to demonstrate his royal pedigree, Vegeta radiates Leo's vivacious courage and supreme self-confidence that can, at times, rise to the level of arrogance. Passionate to a fault, Vegeta loves to draw attention to himself. However, in perfect Leo form, Vegeta can be his own harshest critic as he struggles with his inner demons to become the best and boldest warrior in existence. Fearless of pushing boundaries, even at the risk of personal harm, Vegeta is a natural-born leader who often makes others, such as Goku, better simply by being there and offering his bottomless, if hard-earned, support.

Virgo: Chi-Chi

Goku's wife Chi-Chi is the personification of Virgo's hard-working and reliable nature. While she is completely dedicated to her husband and family, she has a plan for them and does not appreciate when they go "off script," having no problem letting them know what she's thinking when they disappoint her. Like many Virgos, although Chi-Chi may give the impression of being somewhat cold to those who do not know her, those who do know she'll do anything for her family and friends. Like Virgo, she's always focused on improving her situation, and she's not afraid to go it alone to accomplish her goals. It's a good thing Goku kept his most important promise to Chi-Chi, or else the powerful Saiyan fighter would be in serious trouble.

Libra: Gohan

dragon ball gohan

Goku's half-Human, half-Saiyan son Gohan exudes the essential Libra values of balance, harmony, fairness, and peace. While trained as a child to be a warrior beyond compare, Gohan ultimately finds that training and fighting are not his true passion and pivots towards academia, which cleaves to a Libra's continuous quest to unlock the mysteries of life and provide an avenue to exercise their impressive imagination. Most importantly, despite having the ability to fight and win at the highest level, as a true Libra, Gohan's first choice in conflict is always to seek compromise.

Scorpio: Beerus

No one fits the profile of Scorpio better than Universe 7's God of Destruction Beerus. Intense, direct, and at times extremely intimidating, like Scorpio, Beerus is unafraid to ruffle a few feathers and create controversy if it suits his purpose or mood. Moreover, in true Scorpio fashion, Beerus hates fake attitudes, emotions, or actions so much so that he'll obliterate worlds in retribution. On the other hand, as Vegeta has come to learn, underneath his brooding intensity, Beerus can be, like all Scorpios, a loyal, devoted friend and teacher.

Sagittarius: Goku

Never failing to take on a challenge or an opportunity to better himself, Goku is the epitome of Sagittarius' adventurous spontaneity and lust for new ideas and experiences. Impulsive, cheerful, and restless since he was a child, like Sagittarius, Goku is always willing to try something he's never done before. Additionally, in perfect Sagittarian form, Goku's infectious personality not only attracts a wide range of devoted followers but also always seems to bring him an uncanny degree of luck.

Capricorn: Bulma

Bulma looking angry in Dragon Ball Super

Dragon Ball's Capricorn fans will quickly recognize a kindred spirit in Bulma. On the one hand, her focused and practical knowledge of the Dragon Balls in the manga's first story arc is pure Capricorn ambition. As is her management of Goku during the quest. While at times she can be obstinate and cranky, she tends to make good decisions when others cannot. Like Capricorn, once she settles on a goal, Bulma will put the work in to see it accomplished. She's the genius who pulls the strings from behind the curtain.

With its wide cast of characters, it's no wonder that Dragon Ball Super has more than a few heroes and villains who fit the classic mold of the Zodiac. Zodiac signs represent a wide variety of character archetypes, so it's no wonder that Dragon Ball has so many characters that align with astrological signs. Dragon Ball Super's characters all have perfect Zodiac sign parallels that make them easily relatable to fans with the same sign.
