Every member of Goku’s team scored victories in Dragon Ball Super’s Tournament of Power. For the most part, it’s Goku and Vegeta who are entrusted with saving the world in Dragon Ball Super, but this time their triumph required contributions from nearly all of the Z-Warriors. The only ones excluded from the event were Yamcha, Majin Buu, Chiaotzu, Goten, and Trunks.

For the first time in a long time, Goku was put in a situation where he had to call upon old allies like Master Roshi, Krillin, and Tien for help. Goku taking these characters off the sidelines was made necessary by the format established for the tournament. With each of the eight competing universes being represented by a team of their ten best fighters, Goku was forced to recruit nine additional combatants to fill out Beerus’ Universe 7 team. Afterward, they were placed on a giant arena occupied by 70 other fighters seeking to remain the last person standing.

While Goku and Vegeta were of course the two strongest characters in the lineup, they alone didn’t carry the team, as even they wouldn’t have had the stamina or the strength to persevere through that many battles. Every character had to participate and focus on eliminating the opponents from the other seven universes. Here’s all ten members on Goku’s team, and each fighter they knocked out of the ring.

Krillin

Krillin’s performance in the tournament left much to be desired, considering that he was taken out by Universe 6’s Frost just because he allowed himself to get distracted. However, that doesn’t mean he didn’t do his fair share. After assisting in the defeat of two fighters, Krillin had his best moment in the tournament when he went toe-to-toe with Majora. The blind, fox-like creature’s extraordinary sense of smell led to his downfall when the stench of Krillin’s stinky shoe left him open to an attack.

Tien

Tien Dragon Ball Super

Tien scored the least eliminations on the team, with his only two victories being over Za Priccio and Harmira. The latter of these, though, was especially significant because of the damage Harmira could have caused. Tien’s desperate efforts to take him out resulted in both being eliminated, and though his defeat cost Universe 7 a team member, the loss may have been worth it. With Harmira’s capabilities as a sniper, he had the potential to incapacitate almost anyone in the arena, including Goku and Vegeta.

Master Roshi

In a potentially surprising twist for viewers, outdoing both Krillin and Tien in the Tournament of Power was Master Roshi, who turned out to be much stronger than he was thought to be in Dragon Ball Z. Armed with his Evil Containment Wave ability and his Kamehameha move, the Turtle Hermit squared off with Dium, Caway, Dercori, and Ganos, whose unique physiology enabled him to gradually grow in power. It took nearly everything he had, but Roshi pushed himself until he had taken Ganos out of the equation. But in the process of doing so, he physically exhausted himself to a point where that wasn’t much he could do against Frost. That being said, what the character was able to accomplish proved that Goku was right to pick him.

Piccolo

Despite being several levels below Goku and Vegeta, there’s still a lot that Piccolo can bring to the table as a Z-Warrior. Piccolo demonstrated that in the Tournament of Power when he fought almost evenly alongside Ultimate Gohan in their victory against Universe 6’s Namekians, Saonel and Pilina. It was also he who eliminated two of Universe 4’s trump cards, Gamisalas and Xianga, characters whose sneaky tactics made them major challenges for the other teams. But the vigilant and quick-thinking Piccolo figured out their schemes and eliminated both of them. Unfortunately, a third hidden fighter – Damom – got the jump on him before his list of K.O.s could grow any further.

During Universe 7’s first skirmish with Universe 11, 18 managed to eliminate two of the Pride Troopers. And when Goku and Vegeta were busy dealing with the tournament’s heavyweights, Android 18 and Android 17 were focused on fighting some of the weaker fighters, such as the warriors of Universe 2. After multiple encounters, 18 got her biggest win ever when she took down their beloved champion, Ribrianne.

Gohan

Gohan’s intense training with Piccolo paid off in a big way during the Tournament of Power. By using both raw power and a fair amount of strategy, Ultimate Gohan succeeded in knocking out some dangerous contenders, including Obni and Botamo. But by far his greatest challenge in the tournament was overcoming Universe 11’s Dyspo, who was one of the most powerful fighters present. If Gohan hadn’t sacrificed himself to help Frieza eliminate him, it’s unlikely that the remaining Universe 7 warriors would have been able to beat Top, Jiren, and Dypso.

Vegeta

Unsurprisingly, Vegeta had the second-highest number of eliminations, having defeated a total of ten adversaries, some of which being K.O.s that he pulled off with Goku’s help. The ruthless Saiyan prince mowed through several lesser opponents, including Hop, Dr. Rota, Oregano, and Prum. After helping the others beat Anilaza, achieving the Super Saiyan Blue Evolved form, taking down Top, and facing down Jiren, Vegeta finally ran out of gas.

Frieza

Eight of Universe 7’s ring-outs in the Tournament of Power can be credited – at least partially – to Frieza, the most controversial pick on Goku’s team. Frieza, who was a wild card through most of the fighting, never did prove himself trustworthy, but he still contributed more than most of the Z-Warriors. While none of the characters that he beat on his own were real threats to Goku, Vegeta, or even Gohan, the assistance that he provided in their wins against Anilaza, Dyspo, and most importantly, Jiren, was invaluable.

Goku

Several of Goku’s 12 Tournament of Power knockouts were delivered without the Saiyan using his full power. Knowing that he had hold a good bit in reserve for the most powerful fighters, Goku limited himself, but still got past a handful of competitors from Universe 2 and Universe 9. Later, he had to go through grueling, one-on-one showdowns with Kefla and Jiren. Ultimately, both turned out to be lacking against his Ultra Instinct form, but fatigue set in during the final minute of the tournament, forcing him and Frieza to eliminate themselves just to get rid of Jiren, the last enemy remaining.

Android 17

With Jiren gone, all that was left was Android 17 in Dragon Ball Super’s final episode. He wasn’t the best Universe 7 had to offer, but his unlimited energy, power, and fighting skills allowed him to emerge as the Tournament of Power’s breakout star. He may not have beaten any of the opposing universe’s powerhouses, but he certainly did have his moments, particularly when he caught the elusive Damom and nailed two of Universe 2’s top three fighters, Sous Roas and Sanka Ku. All things considered, winning never would have been possible if it wasn’t for 17.
