Warning! Spoilers ahead for Dragon Ball Super chapter 79!

The new Dragon Ball Super villain Gas just surprised Vegeta and Goku (along with every manga reader across the globe) when his character ostensibly stole Moro's most annoying ability.

The new villain Gas of the Heeter Force can apparently steal techniques just like Moro from the Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga after he consumed the alien android Seven-Three and acquired his Copy Ability. When battling Granolah the Cerealian in chapter 79, Gas employs a technique that Vegeta remarks looks too much like Destruction after the Heeter Force member successfully uses a faster version of Instant Transmission.

Gas most likely has these additional powers as a result of becoming the strongest warrior in the universe courtesy of the dragon balls on planet Cereal. Granolah, who had been the earlier recipient of the same wish, seemed to gain a faster version of Instant Transmission as part of the overall package deal when he became the strongest of universe 7. But because Gas is undoubtedly stronger than Granolah, since Cereal's eternal dragon Toronbo granted Gas' power after Granolah's wish, it's likely that Granolah doesn't wield Destruction, and that Gas obtaining Destruction is partly what makes him stronger than Granolah (and everyone else in the universe). Gas confirms his new powers when he tells the Cerealian, "Any abilities that you have gained are now mine as well."

dragon ball super chapter 79

It's unclear whether Gas has any other ability besides Goku's Instant Transmission and Vegeta's Destruction. If he does, Gas has the potential of quickly becoming just as annoying as Moro - and worst of all, Gas won't have the same drawbacks as Moro did. When Moro obtained Seven-Three's Copy Ability, simply touching the back of someone's neck would grant him all of that person's powers. However, every time this occurred, an orb of the person's face whose power he just absorbed would appear on Moro's body, and if any of these orbs shattered, then the abilities he gained from the shattered orb would disappear. Moro also had a time limit on any of the abilities he gained after he consumed Seven-Three. But because Gas gained Destruction and Instant Transmission through the dragon balls, it's unlikely that he can lose or be forced to use them within a certain amount of time as these new techniques are partly what's supposed to make him the most powerful warrior in the universe. Hopefully Gas won't overuse his new abilities like Moro did during the Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga. It was a rather annoying technique especially since he gained Seven-three's Copy Ability near the end of his overall battle against Goku, elongating a fight that was long overdue to end by that time. Moro's most absurd utilization of this power was undoubtedly when he absorbed himself into the Earth, allowing the villain to manipulate his image on the planet's surface to a ridiculous degree.

Luckily, it's highly unlikely that Gas will go this far to defeat Granolah or his recent allies Goku and Vegeta. Gas not only initially refused to be the recipient of Toronbo's wish to become the strongest in the universe, but he even held back from wielding his new powers when he first battled Granolah since he wanted to beat the Cerealian using his own strength. Gas undoubtedly views his inability to defeat Granolah on his own as a personal failing, so if he finds a way to defeat his enemies by using his own inherent abilities then he will. And that will undoubtedly make this next Dragon Ball Super fight - and saga - much more compelling.
