The most recent Dragon Ball video game, Dragon Ball: The Breakers debuted on Oct. 15 to mixed reviews, proving not to be the ideal game the franchise's devoted fans waited for. Yet hope is not lost in the Dragon Ball fandom, given the upcoming Bardock, the Father of Goku DLC for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot set for a January release.
Dragon Ball fans are used to seeing all sorts of creatures and different races in the series. One of the most common races is, of course, dragons, powerful entities that are often associated with wish-making like Shenron and Porunga. But which are the strongest dragons in the longrunning franchise?
Shenron Is Earth's Eternal Dragon
Shenron is by far the most recognizable dragon from the franchise and is the first dragon ever seen in the series. He is summoned by Earth's seven Dragon Balls and grants any wish within his power to the one making the wish.
Throughout the years he has grown more powerful thanks to Dende advancing his wish-granting abilities. Shenron's strength primarily comes from his abilities. He's never seen to fight, but fans will remember that King Piccolo was able to kill him, something Korin was surprised that he was strong enough to do.
Porunga Is Namek's Eternal Dragon
Porunga is the second eternal dragon fans see in the series and is summoned from one of the best locations in Dragon Ball, Planet Namek, and its Dragon Balls. He was described as being even more powerful than Shenron and is essentially the dragon that Shenron is modeled after.
Not only is Porunga able to grant three wishes, but he is also upgraded later in the series to be able to perform more types of wishes. His wishes before were limited more by the beliefs of the Namekians rather than a restriction on his own capabilities.
Ultimate Shenron's Power Is Universal
Ultimate Shenron may or may not be more powerful than Porunga as the wishes used by the dragon are ones that could have undoubtedly been performed by Porunga as well and Ultimate Shenron very specifically only grants the user one wish.
There's no question, however, that this dragon is more powerful than Shenron, one of the best dragons in anime, and is the dragon created by Kami before he split with his evil half, King Piccolo. The fact that these orbs scatter throughout the universe rather than just Earth does imply its greater and more universal power.
Naturon Shenron Has The Potential To Be The Strongest
By himself, Naturon is incredibly weak and is nowhere near one of the strongest dragons. However, thanks to his ability to use others' powers for his own he can become incredibly more powerful. This is simply more than just a boost of the person's power he uses too as he seems to gain strength even greater than his host.
The strongest being Naturon absorbs is Pan which puts above many other dragons that have appeared throughout the Dragon Ball franchise, but still weaker than several of the other Shadow Dragons from Dragon Ball GT.
Rage Shenron Is Incredibly Powerful But Has Too Many Weaknesses
Rage Shenron by himself actually came close to defeating both Super Saiyan 4 Goku and Pan in Dragon Ball GT, which some fans consider being one of the worst anime reboots of all time. His power grew exponentially thanks to the charge in power he received from electricity surrounding him.
While his potential was astonishing, he had too great of a weakness. One that he became too large with the more power he obtained that got to his head too easily and that he had a simple weakness of water that completely drained all of his power when it touched him. While he can accumulate a large amount of power, he would lose against a smart enough opponent.
Eis Shenron Is A Master Of Ice And One Of The Strongest Shadow Dragons

Eis Shenron is one of the three Shadow Dragons that stands above the rest very clearly. He harnesses a mixture of raw power and ice abilities that are both deadly and have a vast range.
While he was able to injure Goku, Goku's full power at Super Saiyan 4 proved to be more than enough to deal out Eis rather easily. Despite Eis heavily contrasting with Nuova and almost being his rival, it's fairly clear that Nuova is stronger. Regardless, Eis proved that he was by far one of the strongest dragons.
Nuova Shenron Is A Master Of Heat And The Fastest Shadow Dragon

Nuova Shenron is by far one of the strongest dragons that appears in the franchise and is the second most powerful Shadow Dragon. He utilizes fire powers and has incredible speed that surpasses even Goku in his Super Saiyan 4 form.
His fight with Goku is approached much differently than the other Shadow Dragons and because of his speed, he is able to rival Goku perfectly who was only a bit stronger than himself. Nuova's strongest attack was his Nova Sphere, an incredibly hot sphere that nearly melted Omega Shenron alive.
Omega / Syn Shenron's Power Threatened The Universe
Syn Shenron alone was already the strongest of the Shadow Dragons. However, after absorbing the other Dragon Balls he becomes far more powerful by obtaining the other Shadow Dragons' abilities and becomes Omega Shenron.
In this state, he is able to easily beat back both Super Saiyan 4 Goku and Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta with the only opponent ever able to beat him back being Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta. He proved himself to be the strongest character the heroes faced in Dragon Ball GT and his evil power was enough to threaten the whole universe. Because of this, the only thing that was able to defeat him was a Universal Spirit Bomb.
Dark Shenron's Power Threatened Time And Space Itself
Dark Shenron is from Super Dragon Ball Heroes, the anime series based on the gacha game, and is one of the toughest opponents the Time Patrol has faced. While Omega Shenron's power was enough to threaten the entire universe, Dark Shenron's power made even Time and Space itself quake.
It seems evident that there are few wishes that Dark Shenron cannot wish for, and it's likely that he does have some limits. While he was able to complete every wish asked of him, he did demonstrate that there were larger wishes that were more difficult and took a long time to perform.
Super Shenron Is The Strongest Dragon In The Verse
Super Shenron is the eternal dragon summoned from the Super Dragon Balls from Dragon Ball Super. Super Shenron is still without a doubt the strongest dragon seen in Dragon Ball Super and is doubtless one of the strongest characters in the franchise still.
So far, it does not seem that there are any limits to Super Shenron's wishing abilities and even his physical strength seems to be one beyond imagination. The only possible dragon in the series that could surpass Super Shenron in strength is its creator, Zalama himself, who may or may not even be a dragon.
