In the legendary series that is Dragon Ball, the villain named Majin Buu was one of the most powerful enemies the Z-Fighters ever faced, and in a jaw-dropping piece of new fan art, this ultimate bad guy gets a mythical redesign for not one but three of his overpowered transformations!

Recently shared on Twitter by username @Justin96636, this account consistently posts breathtaking images of various bits of nerd culture illustrated in the unique art style of Japanese Ukiyo-e paintings. A centuries-old style that is often seen in relation to Japanese folkloric and mythological images, @Justin96636 taking Majin Buu and giving him the Ukiyo-e treatment is a redesign that Dragon Ball fans need to know about.

A character who has more transformations than you can shake a Dragon Ball at, Majin Buu was the final antagonist in the original Dragon Ball Z series and was considered to be the most powerful enemy Goku and company had faced at the time; depending on who you ask, of course. And now, with @Justin96636 choosing three of Buu’s earliest forms as his subject matter, fans get to see what Buu looks like with a more mythical bent to his already iconic design, and it doesn't disappoint.

Placing the first version of Buu revealed to fans, known as “Fat” Buu, on the bottom of the image, @Justin96636 next moves onto the literal manifestation of Buu’s evil nature, a skinnier, gray, and far more powerful version of “Fat” Buu dubbed “Evil” Buu. Finishing the piece out by illustrating the next Buu transformation called “Super” Buu at the top of the image, this form is the combination of “Fat” and “Evil” Buu, and as seen here thanks to @Justin96636’s spot-on visual flourishes, is a much meaner, violent, angry, and powerful version of this Dragon Ball character.

Admittedly, Majin Buu is already a god-like being in nearly every form he takes, so by using this Ukiyo-e Japanese art style to enhance his more mythical qualities, @Justin96636 perfectly depicts this overpowered villain in a way that fans will be drooling over. Furthermore, by following the vertical progression of art as Buu changes forms, this topmost “Super” Buu is stylized in a way that makes him look like an oni ripped straight out of Japanese folkloric culture, hammering home Buu’s evil and insidious nature in a truly creative way.

So while @Justin96636 still has more than a few of Buu’s remaining forms to bring to life in this beautiful Ukiyo-e art style, getting these three transformations right off the bat is a treat for fans of the character nonetheless. Dragon Ball’s Majin Buu getting a mythical redesign seems like a no-brainer after @Justin96636 gets his hands on him, so be sure to check out his Twitter page to see some more of his nerdy art!
