On October 21st, fans learned even more news about the upcoming Pokémon titles, Scarlet & Violet. In these games, various details were uncovered like the return of raids, the customizable options for the player's characters, the fact that box-art legendaries will be obtained early on, and much more.

Dragon Ball also received a new game titled Dragon Ball: The Breakers, released on September 21st. While the two franchises don't seem to have much in common, there's no doubt that the main characters in the Dragon Ball franchise could find a matching Pokémon partner without much difficulty if they wanted to.

Frieza And Mewtwo Were The Strongest

A split image of Frieza from Dragon Ball Z and Mewtwo from Pokemon.

There's absolutely no question that Frieza's ace Pokémon would be Mewtwo. These two Pokémon already heavily resemble each other and are some of the strongest foes in their respective universes.

Mewtwo's innate ability to possess a devastating amount of strength without any training is already similar to Frieza's. In fact, both of these characters were originally introduced as being the strongest in their universe. Mewtwo's focus on psychic abilities and overall typing is also a good fit for the Emperor.

Android 17 & 18 Would Fight As A Duo Or Alone With Latios & Latias

A split image of Androids 18 and 17 from Dragon Ball Z and Latios and Latias from Pokemon.

There are plenty of Pokémon duos in the franchise with many of them heavily resembling each other, though not many of them are actually twins. For a duo like 17 and 18, the two of them deserve to have one of these duos from Pokémon and there's no better fitting duo than one of Pokémon's strongest, Latios and Latias.

These two, known by fans as the Eon Duo, are both independently strong and powerful partners. This fits perfectly with the characters of 17 and 18 who so commonly team up with each other but also have plenty of fights on their own where they prove to be some of the strongest fighters in Dragon Ball.

Tien And Dodrio Are Six-Times The Threat

A split image of Tien from Dragon Ball and Dodrio from Pokemon.

Tien's most distinguishable feature is his third eye and how it has given him unique abilities like mimicry, allowing him to learn almost any technique he sees once. Much like Tien, who is known for his three eyes, Dodrio is known for its three heads.

Because of this, Dodrio has manifested several attacks that deal different types of damage or multiple hits at once like its Tri-Attack and Furry Swipes. In much the same way, Tien has representations of three with his Tri-Beam and even extends beyond the number three when he grows four arms with his Four-Witches Technique. Tien is also known for his mastery of the Crane Style of Martial Arts and Dodrio is based on birds.

Yamcha And Lycanroc Are The Perfect Wolf Combination

A split image of Yamcha from Dragon Ball and Lycanroc from Pokemon.

Yamcha was the first opponent Goku ever faced that gave him trouble, and alongside Yamcha came his signature technique that every Dragon Ball fan remembers--the Wolf Fang Fist. This technique has embodied Yamcha to this day with the character often possessing several wolf attacks.

No one is better to be Yamcha's ace Pokémon than the best wolf Pokémon of all time and one of the best dog-like Pokémon, Lycanroc. This Pokémon has three different variants, but the one that best suits Yamcha is the Midnight form due to its werewolf-like design and representation of the moon which is hard not to associate Yamcha with thanks to his epic debut in the Curse of the Blood Rubies.

The Small But Powerful Krillin Would Like Squirtle

A split image of Krillin from Dragon Ball Z and Squirtle from Pokemon.

The Pokémon that would best suit Krillin as his ace Pokémon is one of the best water-type starter Pokémon, Squirtle. Perhaps a more powerful Pokémon would at first appear to suit Krillin better, but there have been plenty of strong trainers in Pokémon that have had basic or Stage 1 Pokémon as their ace.

Squirtle is just far too perfect of a fit for Krillin and is much better suited for him than Wartortle or Blastoise. Both of them are small in stature but aren't to be underestimated. Not only that, but Krillin is also known for his expertise in the Turtle Style of martial arts he learned from his master, Roshi. This makes a turtle-inspired Pokémon all the more perfect for Krillin.

The Time Travelers Future Trunks And Dialga

A split image of Future Trunks from Dragon Ball Super and Dialga from Pokemon.

Future Trunks is one of the strongest characters to ever show up in Dragon Ball, so it isn't surprising that he should get a legendary Pokémon to stand alongside him. Dialga is the perfect fit and would look amazing standing beside Trunks.

The reason these two are the best pairing though is due to their ability to time travel. Trunks, of course, is known for being from the future traveling in the time machine his mother created. Dialga, on the other hand, is known as the Pokémon of time, and it too can travel through time. This makes these two the perfect pairing.

The Lazy But Powerful Gohan And Slaking

A split image of Gohan from Dragon Ball Super and Slaking from Pokemon.

Any Pokémon inspired by a primate is a candidate for a Saiyan, but what better Pokémon is there than Slaking, the lazy but powerful Pokémon, for Gohan. Gohan is highly criticized by both fans and characters within the series for his lack of focus on training. Gohan, of course, is only really lazy when it comes to training, and this would make Slaking the ideal partner.

But this isn't the only reason, for when both Gohan and Slaking put their minds to it, they are some of the most powerful characters around. Some of Gohan's best Dragon Ball fights are Dragon Ball's most memorable, proving he is one of the best fighters and Slaking has the same kind of potential to be great on turns that he isn't Loafing Around.

The Namekian Piccolo And The Slug Dragon Goodra

A split image of Piccolo from Dragon Ball Super and Goodra from Pokemon.

Namekians have a few inspirations, one of them being slugs, and not only do Namekians have this inspiration, but they also have a heavy association with dragons due to the Dragon Balls. Because of this, there isn't a better fitting Pokémon to fight by Piccolo's side than the slug dragon, Goodra.

While Goodra is known for being an extremely friendly Pokémon that loves to hug people, it's actually an extremely powerful Pokémon and is one of the pseudo-legendary Pokémon. While the old Piccolo would never have teamed up with such a partner, there's no doubt that the current Piccolo would find Goodra to be the perfect ally.

The Serious And Powerful Vegeta And Luxray

A split image of Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z and Luxray from Pokemon.

Like many Pokémon, Luxray does bear some primate similarities (though only a few). Its entire demeanor and design are also somewhat similar to Vegeta's with the spiky fury and serious attitude.

This Pokémon is one of the strongest and one of the best electric-type Pokémon making it a perfect Pokémon for Vegeta. While Vegeta does not necessarily harness any electric attacks, most of his techniques like Galick Gun or Final Flash have an electric edge to them.

Both Goku And Infernape Are Based On Sun Wukong

A split image of Goku from Dragon Ball and Infernape from Pokemon.

Goku is the main protagonist of Dragon Ball, and there are probably a few important Pokémon that might come to mind as his ideal ace Pokémon. While the Pokémon that fits Goku's color scheme the best is Charizard and would no doubt in many ways be Goku's perfect ace Pokémon, there is a better option, and that's, of course, Infernape.

Just like Goku, Infernape is based on Sun Wukong from Journey to the West. This makes these two ideal partners. Infernape's agility and strength make him very reminiscent of Goku as well as his various forms of attack.
