The Dragon Ball villain known as Frieza has been a constant thorn in Goku’s side for more years than fans can count, and since his introduction, he’s gone down as one of the most powerful and scary adversaries the Z-Fighters have ever faced. And now, in a terrifying piece of fanart, Frieza gets a new mythical redesign drawn in the style of a unique Japanese genre that fans and haters of the character alike need to see!

Shared on Twitter by username @Justin96636, this account is known for creating original pieces of art drawn in the centuries-old Japanese ukiyo-e style -- a choice that has solidified @Justin96636’s presence on social media as a truly unique and talented creative mind. Posting images of characters and moments from Dragon BallOne PieceAttack on Titan, and more, @Justin96636 is an artist with an eye for all things nerdy; something made especially apparent with this particular Frieza piece.

A character first introduced in Dragon Ball Z who at the time acted as the main antagonist when the Z-Fighters traveled to Piccolo’s home planet of Namek, Frieza is not only responsible for the near total eradication of the Saiyan race but was also the villain who pushed Goku to his limits and forced him to transform into a powerful, yellow-haired Super Saiyan. Coming back from the dead more than once, Frieza has utilized four different forms of increasing power levels throughout the Dragon Ball franchise (Mecha Frieza doesn’t count as it was more of an upgrade than a transformation), with one final transformation even turning him into a golden god!

Choosing to focus on Frieza’s powerful fourth transformation, @Justin96636 depicts this villainous character in all of his evil glory as he stands front and center in a menacing and threatening pose. Colored white and purple with outlines of gold spaced around his body, Frieza is drawn with a ferocious oni-esque snarl on his face as his red eyes and glowing aura complete the terrifying look. Furthermore, @Justin96636 throws in a little Dragon Ball Easter egg for fans as lurking behind Frieza’s formidable form are his super-elite warriors, the overcompensating team known as the Ginyu Force!

@Justin96636 bringing yet another outstanding art piece to life in the form of one of Dragon Ball’s best villains is not only impressive but also fanart at its peak and most pure form. Dragon Ball’s Frieza is a terrifying character when drawn regularly, so make sure to check out @Justin96636’s page to see how much more frightening this Saiyan killer can be when illustrated the ukiyo-e way!
